In my Carlisle 1979-1980 timetable there are a whole raft of Motorail services between Scotland & England complete with the actual booked formations taken from the LMR & WR Passenger Train Marshalling Book for 1979-1980. The Ely Motorail train is also in that timetable as it was diverted gvia Carlisle at that time due to the closure of the ECML north of Newcastle due to the Penmanshiel Tunnel collapse. Some of the longest Motorail services were around 20 vehicles in length & in some cases the majority of whichwere the carflats.

All the Kensington services were 20; 8 passenger vehicles and 12 flats.
