Entry points not working when chained? 17/03/2019 at 09:02 #116410

I've been running a few simulations chained together on my laptop. I've had Aston and New Street and the 3 Leeds Simulations. I've noticed that all of a sudden one entry point will stop working, For example on New Street trains stopped entering from Saltley via Kings Norton and on Leeds Ardsley trains stopped entering from Wakefield Kirkgate.

Has anyone else experience similar? I'm running the most up to date version of the sims and loader.

Are the sims still definitely connected?
How are you ascertaining that they’ve stopped working?

Yes the sims are still chained as trains are passing between simulation fine. I've determined they're not working as I've got multiple trains showing on F4 as due to enter from the entry point in question but never appearing in sim. Meanwhile trains are appearing from every other entry point perfectly fine.

Any rules that haven’t fired/been satisfied that are preventing entry?

Not on Leeds Ardsley, no. I have got the Leaffall situation on but that shouldn't make any difference.

Wakefield Kirkgate isn’t chained to anywhere though.

No but Leeds Ardsley is connected to Leeds East/West with trains passing to and from the sim fine, And Kirkgate isn't on any sim and has not had any trains appear from the entry point since 11am sim time.

Can you please confirm your timetable, and simulation version for Leeds A?

I suspect you are not running the latest which is 1.5 of both.

Using version 1.5 with the supplied Groundhog day timetable 04:45 start with Leaffall on for Leeds A

Using version 1.7 of New Street with supplied Groundhog day timetable 04:45 version 4.1.

Both problems are affecting passenger services.

Ok, and what trains have not entered? Can you send a save?

The first attached save is for new street and shows that the cross city line services have not appeared. I thought at first this was due to various rules and that because of the late running they would appear, but as can be seen in F4 there are trains that haven't entered after an hour an a half. This save was created in November and the loader was up to date at the time.

The second save is for Leeds Ardsley and shows despite the fact that 2W72 appears to have left the simulation okay and is not showing in the F2 list, nothing has since entered from the Kirkgate entry point. I started this simulation after the last loader update and everything was up to date on my end via the check for updates button.

I hope these help provide enough information to help resolve my issues.

Birmingham NS has a rule "2U32 [depends on] 2N27-1". Somehow the rule was not met and so the train is prevented from entering. Did you remove it before it exited? Or make it run to another timetable?

In addition, there are trains after 2U32 which *did* enter (not subject to rules, or were subject to other rules which were met), so the entry point is a red herring - it's just rules.

Leeds could be the same. Look at the Rules tab in F4.

Chaining is a red herring in the Leeds Ardsley case.

In the timetable you're running, all of the Kirkgate entries have invalid timetables- they have Wakefield Kirkgate as their first location as well as their entry point, which isn't permitted. Delete that, and the timetable will validate and trains will enter. I'm not sure if there was an update between you starting the game and now, but the versions of the timetable I have don't have that problem.

Run your updater as both the LeedsA sim & TT were updated the other week to remove that issue

I have been finding this with Yeovil Pen Mill in the Westbury sim also when I was experimenting with a bit of timetable creation on that sim recently.

In regards to NS/Saltley.

Is this not the same issue a few of us have been reporting about Cross-City trains just giving up entering from Aston? I'm sure I ran a host with both chained and kept all failures off and ran the sim as hassle free as possible and still ended up losing them half way through the day.

I'm going to run another host of these two from start to finish, as I seem to have lost the saves from the last session. See what happens.

Craig

On New Street, there're ruled for trains that aren't on the main TT list.... I've lost 2 trains already.

2N08 - 2N21 is it's next workings apparently. There is a TT for that but it didn't enter. 2N08 left the sim 6L. rules says next working doesn't arrive in until 26 minutes after 2N08 leaves area.

2N33 doesn't arrive in until 2R18 leaves area, again 26 minutes. There is no TT for 2N33 on the TT list. (Correction, 2N33 was shown as entered, it's not due to enter until 0908. current sim time is 08:44)

Which timetable are you using? 2N33 exists in the save provided above, entering 0908. In the save 2N21 is shown as having entered.

Hi Geoff.

I've edited my last post, as I had entered trains hidden selected.

I was using the groundhog TT. Everything was fine until a delayed train left the area at Four oaks.

I can't explain why 2N33 was showing as entered as the sim was at 0844 and closed at 0845.

On my session there, 2N21 didn't enter. It's previous journey was the first delayed train to four oaks since the sim started.

The sim was set up on the easiest settings as possible, chained with Saltley also with no issues affecting the sim, other than poor regulation around New Street. Which caused the trains to be delayed.

Saves below.

New street top, Saltley bottom.

Mantis 24236 raised in relation to the New Street / Saltley issue detailed by Craig.

I've yet to investigate the Leeds issue in any depth as I still suspect the opening post user has the wrong versions.

See my post further up the thread- it's a version issue; either starting again or modifying the copy of the timetable within the saved game will solve it.

If you've looked at it and determined that, that's more than enough confirmation for me.
