I didn't know you could amend and save the name that way, but thanks for the tip. I was referring to when you edit as required, close the F4 window, then go to Timetable/Save As on the clock window, and give your edited TT a new name.
Small correction; The field is the Timetable Name not the Timetable Description on the F4 front tab. The advantage of doing it through the TT name is that you have a consistent name for the file and TT. Again IIRC, if you save the TT with the F4 window still open, it doesn't amend the TT or file name. It also doesn't save any edits you have made to the TT description; they are lost as well so it is important to remember to close F4 before saving if you are doing it that way.
That's right, if you edit then save without closing the F4 window, your amendments aren't saved. I only give my TT's a new name if I want to amend but keep the original just in case I wish to go back for any reason. It has come in handy once or twice. I have got into the habit now though of saving downloaded TT's into a separate folder then copying them across to Public Documents, which means I don't need to change the name unless I want to compare two TT versions as I did this morning to see if something had changed.

Can someone help me with 5F51?

I saw the note earlier about it needing to be manually reversed but when I did that it didn't recognize that it had reached its destination (Burton station), and instead stopped at signal 159.

To summarize what I did, I signaled it through signal 154 and it stopped at signal 104. I then manually reversed it after which is said stopped at 151. I then signaled it to 159 assuming it would stop at the platform but it carried on to the signal.

I wondered whether it was supposed to be signaled down towards Birmingham Curve Jn to reverse, but that would block 6D55 from heading that way right behind it.

Thanks.

When you manually reverse it you also need to step its timetable to the next location as the train won't do it itself.

Open up the train list with F2. Then it's timetable options > run to another timetable > pick 5F51 and pick the location as Burton on trent.

Or you can go to F2, right-click on the train, timetable options > edit timetable > click on Burton on Trent and then use the "Current/Next Location" button.

I think I'm doing something wrong with 5V64 and 5D91 in the carriage sidings. They are both in there along with DYSP but everything just says waiting to join.

I've attached my save game.

Thanks

Okay, I 'think' I know my error. 5D91 needs to go to the bottom CS via the ground frame, whereas 5V64 needs to go to the top (through) CS.

I haven't got the sim open right now but if memory serves, when you open 5D91 timetable window the notes button should be in bold type. If you click on it I think it tells you there where to send the train. Don't worry if you missed seeing this button, some TT's use it a lot, and I often miss seeing it. It's as if I have a mental block that prevents me remembering to look out for it.

Regards,

Phil.

Indeed it does, and I even read the notes, but I just saw the CS part and completely skipped over the bottom and through part

So I've just reached about 20:00. Loving the timetable so far, lots of tricky loco movements.

Anyway, I've stumbled across what may be a couple of TT conflicts.

The first involves 0K02 which is supposed to run around through platform 6 however, 5M81 is due to occupy that platform at that time.

The other involves 0F07 which is suppose to head from the station to the 4 shed via Chaddington Curve, but that is occupied by 5D91 at the time.

Just use a different platform for 0K02. The tt editor forces a platform to be selected otherwise id've left it blank.

For 5D91/0F07 I'd amend 0F07 to reverse at Derby SNJ to resolve it. I'll take a look at it properly when I can. Likely caused as 5D91 was a late change to the tt based on new info received.

I don't recall the 5D91/0F07 conflict coming up during testing.

As Joe says, locos can use any platform, or the Goods lines or Pilot line..

Regarding reversals on Chaddesden Curve, if Chad Curve is occupied you can reverse behind DY473 GPL on the Down Goods at Derby North, by making a simple change in the individual train's TT via the F2 window (Chad Curve to DY473 or vice-versa). I do it all the time. In reality, when a driver called up ready from Derby Stn to make the move the signalman would generally tell him where he was going to send him (Derby North or Chad Curve). Another often overlooked reversing location is the Limit of Shunt on the Up Main at Derby North, handy for locos but not enough room for HST's.

Not only are there some tricky loco moves and the potential for Mexican standoffs with moves on and off Etches Park and 4 Shed if you're not careful, another thing to remember is that 4 Shed could only take a maximum of 2 HST's at a time for fuel, so if you really want to play authentically you need to factor that in, which will make the late evening rather 'interesting' as you can soon run out of places to put trains waiting to go onto 4 Shed, while trying to keep the whole station area fluid.

Small bug with 6M15: it is timetabled to take the goods line at Burton but the fact that it has only six minutes to get to North Staffordshire Junction suggests that it should not take any 15mph lines on the way.

Just got to the end, great timetable.

One small thing I noticed when i got to the end though, neither of the trains from Denby 7A24 or 7A30 made an appearance.

In the tt notes it states that there is a bug that stops trains from entering at Denby, however the trains are still in the TT and will appear if the bug is resolved.

I'm only up to 09:05 but find this a really great timetable. Lots to do in the small hours and I just love the Nadins Siding Ground Frame

A word to the wise with Nadins GF, when a train calls up ready to depart give the release immediately if possible otherwise the train ignores the GPL in the siding and proceeds up the neck.

I'll remember your advice. Got a train out without any problems so must have done it promptly
