A local passenger train derailed at the junction near Hunghom Station.
Perhaps a points failure as it seems that the points suddenly switched from Platform 4 to Platform 7 when the track is occupied?

The points machine should still be made by Westinghouse.

Here's another photo from the Internet. Curiously, only three carriages in the middle appear to have derailed.

Edit again: Information given by MTR (photo by Ming Pao news website):

More edit: Just found out that Apple Daily has obtained an internal recording of the signalling display, but a subscription is needed to view it so I don't think I can legally mirror the video. You can see a screenshot of it though: https://hk.news.appledaily.com/breaking/realtime/article/20190917/60053627

Both MTRCL and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) released their investigation reports today:

MTRCL: MTR Implements Improvement Measuresas Investigation Panel Concludes Dynamic Track Gauge WideningCaused East Rail Line Derailment Incident
EMSD: Technical Investigation Report on Train Derailment Incident at Hung Hom Station on MTR East Rail Line

The immediate cause was dynamic track gauge widening at HUH turnout P5116. Nothing related to signalling and the point machines.

When I clicked on the link, I expected to see just a screenshot, but I actually saw a video!

Now you can view the video of the internal recording of the signalling display via the Internet Archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20190917085511/https://video.appledaily.com.hk/mcp/encode/2019/09/17/3892441/20190917_ccm_03v7_w.mp4
(Highly suggest you mute the audio when playing it.)

Something horribly wrong with the link above. This works:

https://video.appledaily.com.hk/mcp/encode/2019/09/17/3892441/20190917_ccm_03v7_w.mp4

(and doesn't require a licence).
