Sorry if this has been requested before, or if it's already there and I just can't find it.

But what would be really useful if when you get a message about train 1x11 waiting at signal s2 for example, you could click on this to have the sim scroll to this location.

An extension to this wish would be to be able to press something like Ctrl-F to find either a train or a signal.

It would be nice if this existed in real signalling, but it doesnt and Signallers have to learn their areas to easily identfy where a train or signal is.

well yes but in real life you can't shorted or remove trains, or make time go faster or slower (or even stop), to name but two helpful features

And on the larger sims you can be doing the work of 4 or more signalmen rather than working one small section of the panel as you would be in real life, so this small concession as we can't all remember every signal number and its location would be a big help if it was possible, certainly on the larger sims.

Not shouting down the original wish or subsequent replies at all. But just for info in case it wasn't realised, it does now tell you the area that the train is in when waiting at a red signal, which helps to narrow it down for you.

On a real IECC you have the option to display signal numbers.

But you still have to know where they are, not easy to remember on a large sim.

If you look through sim manuals, some simulations have signal plans. Please not that I said "some"

As with any other job that requires knowledge of locations, you learn it. Depending on your involvement/focus on any one sim, you will soon get to know where things are, or at least the area of control where you can then locate the train in question.

Half the fun is spending 5 minutes trying to find a train on the big sims

A couple of sims have this as a feature. Making it a core code feature (it's not trivial) is on my list of things to do.

All simulations should have plans in their respective manuals, however not all of them are searchable.

I think finding the train that has called in is easy - the hard part is locating that damn level crossing that has called you for permission to cross...….
