In the modern WTT, Newbury Racecourse has received platform and line codes.
It appears the layout has also changed slightly (like electrification up to Newbury), but that's outside the scope of this request.
I have included a mockup of the line codes and platform numbers.

I'm currently writing a 2021-07-07 timetable, so it would be quite helpful if these platform numbers were added in the sim.
There is also a new location called "NEWBURY SIGNAL T2867 (NEWB867)", which is the new layout's equivalent of R830.
Currently the move Newbury-T2867-Newbury can only be timetabled by going all the way to Racecourse, because there is no R830 location.
The location isn't a reverse, however, because freight trains are also booked Theale-Racecourse-T2867-Newbury-Bedwyn etc.

The line codes will be to do with the addition of ARS when the Newbury area was recontrolled into the Thames Valley Signalling Centre.

This is not the era simulated on the Westbury sim.

Even in the sim era, line codes would be useful. There's currently simply no way to tell if a train is booked for the loop or the mainline.

Less about line codes, more about being able to specify in the timetable which platform number the train is booked to use where a choice is available. its available at Newbury but not Newbury racecourse.

It likely never was in reality. If a train is booked to stop there then the chances are it’ll need the platform, otherwise send it on the main.

To add line codes etc where they never existed is just as unprototypical as adding in extra signals.

The shunts via the Racecourse in the current day timetable - whether timetabled at signal T28xx or Racecourse station itself - take place at Racecourse station.

Use of that location as an analogue in the simulation would suffice without any noticeable difference to the player.

For reversals behind R830, use the location "Newbury East (Reverse)".

Luckily you've bothered to look at the sim, so you know that all 3 lines have maintained platforms. So as the signaller, knowing which one to use is pure guesswork. Some services are timetabled through the loop, even though there would be no conflict using the mainline.

Ah, guess I missed that. Doesn't solve the freight trains though, but I guess I can use Racecourse with a N stopping position for that, to make sure they pull clear of the mainline.

On them never existing - looking at the 2010 WTT, Racecourse has traditionally always had a row for "dep-line", albeit not being filled in at the time.

Platform numbers on sim and TT editor for Racecourse have been added already in the next update of the sim which is going through testing.

You're composing a TT that is out of era for the sim. That choice is yours of course, but it states in the sim manual the era the sim was based around.

I’ve looked at the sim many times, and as Peter Bennet will tell you from when he updated it to loader specifications, probably in a far more detailed manner than most users ever would.

The fact that it wasn’t filled in should tell you all you need to know - that it wasn’t used.

It seems to me that you’re wanting to play a game rather than simulate railway operations, part of the challenge of older non-ARS areas was for the Signallers to know their area and the timetable and work it accordingly without having to be micromanaged by timetable planners telling them what route to set and when.

Thank you. That's great to hear, and all I needed to know.

Somebody asked for this before and I checked the Rules of the Plan which said
Quote:
Newbury Racecourse – Platform detail must be shown

So have made them available in the next release which is awaiting approval to release as HAP noted.

This location does not have any platform/line codes either, so I can't specify whether the reversal is behind R830, R824 or R488.

Probably accurate at the time the simulation was set, there was a TIPLOC for R830 only. Signallers can generally be expected to work that one out from context, or failing that a TT note if you're doing something very unusual.

As it is not an ARS sim, line codes are not used / needed.

I see it released. I couldn't find a changelog. Is this the only addition in the update?

Refreshed 'official' 2007 timetable to follow:

Converted siding entries to seeds.
Used crew changes in place of 2 min stops.
Used new set down options if better suited
Sorted a few trivial bugs.
Some rules converted to decisions where a change was needed or worthwhile anyway.

Bill
