Why can’t I handle the signals the same way on the other railways?
In vain, for example, after pressing X6, X106 does nothing!

As we engineers say, if all else fails, read the instructions.

It's not that clear though, to be fair.

You have to click on the opposite signal basically. It's referenced in the manual and there are a couple of threads on the topic

So try setting from X6 to X18

Left click on the entry signal, then left click on the exit signal or the opposing (wrong direction) signal.
For me, the marker on the opposite side was not logical!

Nor me, that's why I had to consult the manual to discover it. :-) :-)

A user of this forum advised this was how this area worked. US railroads have this concept of interlockings which apply to just a junction really: you have a set of [controlled] signals protecting entry to the interlocking, and plain track between interlockings [auto signals] are not always shown as such - you could have two "track sections" between interlockings on the screen, but they do not equate to block sections on the ground, but instead are "approach" tracks for each interlocking. It's a different mindset to the UK.

So if you think of an interlocking as an island, then you need to choose your way into the interlocking (on to the island), and choose your way out of the interlocking (off the island) (and ignore the plain track auto section beyond). Thus, you select the entry signal, followed by the exit signal.

Hope that makes sense.
