Good morning fellow Simsiggers,

I have been wondering, if you have an engineering train simulated, can it run "wrong line" against the signals as if it were in a possession like they do in real blocks?

I am preparing a Westbury t/t for Saturday passed (16 Jan) where there was a block on the B&H route from Theale to Westbury, and from observing the td's at work closely (and somewhat worringly for a number of hours), I noticed that possession trains were operating down the up line & up the down line to gain access to the worksites they were needed at.

If its a yes, marvellous.....

If its a no, then I can probably work around it by using Woodborough down loop to send them back towards Theale.

Just seeking clarification on the matter.

As far as I know this can only be done by abandoning the timetable and manually reversing the train. In the case of a multiplayer or chained game, only the host can do this.

Some sims are not coded to allow wrong line running, but those that do allow it, yes, that the way to do it. Also talk trains past signals etc. Note TD's will probably not follow the train and TCs will 'flood' but it will work.

I think I'd expect that IRL, with a headcode needing to input manually for trains leaving the block.

I think I've said this elsewhere, but on all refreshed sims trains can run "wrong line" at up to 20mph, irrespective of whether this has been coded into the individual sims. Trains will not trail through points set wrongly - they will come to a stop before reaching them, then restart if they are swung to the correct position.

If routes haven't been set, track circuits will flood. The train describer will get confused, but they are simple-minded entities anyway.
