I was just wondering - with the infrastructure in place as it is is it possible to signal an RM for a passenger train on the west side of Worksop station?

So - a train arrives from the west (eg Sheffield) and departs back towards its origin without having to go through shunt signals or work ECS etc.

Cheers - hope that made sense!

I believe that it is a booked move made by services from Nottingham.

If the data that I have is correct then there is a main (not shunt) signal from platform 2 (up direction, from Sheffield), WP625 giving access to the Down line towards Sheffield - so, yes.

Nottingham - Worksop services mostly work into Platform 2 then form Worksop - Nottingham departing from Platform 2. If a service arrives from the west into Platform 2 and the next working is from Platform 1 the train reverses at WP269. (This has been observed many a time from the Mallard Public House situated on Platform 1) This means the driver only has to change end once

A nice little pub that one. I've seen trains also terminate on 2 and work over the level crossing before coming back into 1.

TomOF: Correct that move is indeed workting to WP269, then back into P1.
Chrisrail: A nice quiet little public house as you said. Well thas was untill Kurt and myself went there last year! lol

Kurt behaved when I took him there. The pub had about 6 people in and consequently was heaving when you know how big the place is.

When Worksop was resignalled a colour light signal was provided at the Sheffield end of the Up platform to enable a straight departure. However, this signal was only used if the return departure was imminent. If the timing required a wait at Worksop, the train would indeed be signalled over the LC then back to P1 over the nearby crossover.
