It seems a common theme from this thread is that the host makes the rules, which seems fair enough.

Therefore, as a way for learning from this experience, can I suggest the following:-

- Should someone notice a potential breach of the rules they may, using the normal message function, politely bring the issue to the attention of the signaller / train controller (host).
- Once the message has been sent, all other players should refrain from speaking on the subject, unless the objector made an incorrect statement, and in that case can politely post only 1 message to that effect.

- Only the signaller in the area concerned can then either:-
- make alternate signalling arrangements
- ask for more information as to the objection (and then only those specifically asked can provide further comment. Others are still limited to 1 message rule).
- ask the train controller (host) for direction.

- At any time the train controller (host) can either:-
- request the signaller to make alternate signalling arrangements (which the signaller must follow).
- ask for more information as to the objection (and then only those specifically asked can provide further comment. Others are still limited to 1 message rule).
- decide to ignore the objection (either because not playing strictly to the rules, or just simply because they want to), and direct the signaller to proceed as planned. The train controller (host) may wish to provide a reason for the decision, but this is NOT to prompt further comment.

Once the train controller (host) has made a decision, the issue is considered resolved, and all should refrain from making further comments unless the train controller (host) specifically requests debate on the matter.
