hi guys

just running the westbury sim i had a track curcuit failure on the up westbury line protecting hungerford level crossing and noticed the signals on the up RK101 and RK104 down westbury are incorrect the signals are controlled signals from reading psb they should be R845 up wesbury and R856 on the down westbury the signals are cleared when the crossing keeper lowers the barriers

cheer

Could be a stab in the candlelit dark here but could this have something to do with it? [sub](see second section from the bottom)[/sub]

Long shot but it could be?!!

In Kintbury crossing box the signals are identified as K104 etc, but in Reading they are identified as R856 etc. On the ground the signals are plated R856 etc. Kintbury slots the signals to Reading, allowing the signals to clear once the barriers are down and crossing clear.

The decision was made in SimSig to reflect the fact that Kintbury is involved, hence the RK104 identification. The opinion of whether it's wrong really depends on whose perspective you are looking at which is why a compromise identity was chosen.

And soon, someone will go out with a can of paint and spray on letter "T" on these signals to become TR856 etc.....

@ James: To be honest, I don't know how they are going to replate. I was just being a bit cheeky in suggesting that they spray paint the letter "T" on so that it is done on the cheap. I am sure that it will be a professional job done. Mick will be able to confirm this next month. Meanwhile, the moment these letter "T"s are being applied, many people on this forum wouldn't care less as they will be involved in a certain gathering in Peterborough.

@Mick: Nightmare? It just depends on which approach you take to operating the IECC, like. I intend to avoid nightmares myself, and I am sure the others will too, like....

I was down newbury-bedwyn last night with a trainee driver i was checking the signal numbers.

When Reading Psb moves it will be a nightmare ive seen photos of the new signalling centre at didcot and Lavington to kintbury first stage soon then as far as theale.I guess geoff is fully involved with the design of the new workstations for the new box.

I'm not sure why exactly. If properly planned and executed the move should go ahead with the minimum of fuss.

The new IECC style workstations are being provided by Delta Rail. The Berks and Hants line will be known as Workstation 4. It is one of the simulations that TRE are doing. Imagine flipping the layout upside down to Westbury SIMSIG and that's pretty much what it looks like. Trains on the first phase will appear on the Train describers when leaving Heywood Road Jn and Newbury. The second phase will go right past Theale to just before Reading West.

To return to the Original point, There are some locations supervised by the crossing keepers with various slots needing to be given before signals will clear.

thanks for the info

the nigtmare bit is when the blockade starts a lot of diversions and movement of trains either side of the engineering works to keep some sort of service
