Marylebone - Bicester-Oxford Signaller

Introduction

In 2013 this line exists but as mostly single track, supervised from Oxford PSB. A shuttle service runs from Bicester Town to Oxford (and sometimes points beyond) several times a day. However, the line was resignalled in 2015 with double track virtually throughout, with a new connection to the main Princes Risborough to Bicester North line just south of the latter station. This project is part of the Oxford to Bedford reinstatement, previously cut off in the 1960s. Future works also plan for the Aylesbury to Claydon Junction line also being upgraded for passenger service, allowing trains to run direct from London Marylebone to Bletchley or even to Bedford.

This line is only available in the 2015 and 2016 eras.

Locations

Bicester Village

A CCTV level crossing here requires its barriers to be lowered well in advance of non-stopping trains. An Auto-Lower function is available, with the control engaged the barriers will lower as trains approach Bicester. Use the non-stop control for trains approaching from Oxford which do not call at Bicester. This will make the crossing lower earlier, so that approaching trains run on green signals.

It may appear strange that OB1792 has an auto button. This is not a simulation inaccuracy. The button is probably provided for the future double-tracking of the route to Claydon.

Bicester Depot

A run-round loop is provided at the loop giving access to Bicester depot. Engines running round trains may be timetabled to reverse at OB5009, to avoid blocking the main lines.

Oxford/Bicester Slots

Before a train can be signalled from OB1764 or OB9004, a slot must be requested from Oxford. Left-click on the "Bicester to Oxford slot request" green circle. Once the slot is given, the route may be set.

When Oxford needs to send a train to you, the "Oxford to Bicester slot" green circle will start to flash solid white. Left-click on the roundel to give the slot, whereupon Oxford will set a route towards signal OB1763.
