Cheshire Lines

London Midland Region

:usertrack:areainfo:cheshirelines.png

Introduction

Cheshire Lines simulates the bulk of the mid-Cheshire line, which runs from Chester to Stockport. The line serves various villages and, towards its eastern end, part of the Manchester commuter belt. The line also sees a reasonable amount of freight traffic, both from yards in the control area, and traffic heading from the West Coast Main Line connection at Hartford to Manchester and the Peak District. The relatively low traffic levels and smaller panel size make this a good simulation for beginners, though good regulation is still required to avoid freight services delaying passenger traffic, particularly on the single track sections.

Between Timperley and Altrincham, Manchester's Metrolink system falls under the control of Network Rail's signalbox at Deansgate Junction, which is included in the simulation. Altrincham receives a 6-minute frequency service for much of the day, requiring your attention at all times!

A representation of the area prior to the 1991 conversion of the Timperley route to Metrolink is also included.

Cheshire Lines is a payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
