Introduction

The Hereford simulation puts you in control of the 95-mile Marches route, which follows the border between Wales and England north from Newport to Shrewsbury. The line is an important secondary route, with frequent passenger services connecting north and south Wales, along with a reasonable amount of freight traffic. Care is needed to recess freight trains at the correct location to keep passenger traffic moving. In addition to the Marches route, the 85 mile Heart of Wales line from Craven Arms to the outskirts of Swansea is simulated. This route is quite a contrast to the main line: entirely single track (with 5 passing loops), trains take around 3 hours to wind their way along the line.

The route has yet to be modernised, and is primarily controlled by mechanical signalling, worked from 14 signal boxes, and the Absolute Block system of working. On the Heart of Wales line, the 'No Signaller Token Remote' (NSTR) method of working is simulated.

Hereford is a payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
