If a piece of equipment has been put into a requested state, such as a point requested in the normal position, it might be considered as keyed. In computerised control environments there is no physical key; the term harkens back to physical panels where there would be a multi-position keyswitch (three positions for points).
To key points in SimSig, left (normal) or right (reverse) click the points until they remain highlighted blue.
