Through Line. Normally, this code is used where there is a non-platformed passenger line through the middle of the station, used by expresses. Cf. ML for Main Line (through a platform) and GL for Goods Line, running parallel to the Main Line but also often non-platformed or passing through platform or siding for slower-speed freight trains that may need to offload goods or stop for a crew break.
You may encounter local varieties of Through Lines that do not conform exactly to the above rules, e.g., at Derby. See here for discussion.
