How To Get There

Train

CrossCountry trains serve Derby from various parts of the country. A direct service is available from London on the Midland Main Line, provided by East Midlands Trains . Lots of local services mean access from other cities is easy. The pub is under 100 yards from the railway station: go out the station's main entrance and head straight ahead, away from the railway and the pub will be on your right-hand side.

Bus

Take any of the following routes from the new Riverlights bus station; 40/42/44/45 (they run every few mins) to Derby railway station and proceed directly up the road, with the railway station behind you, to the venue (3 min walk). The fare is £1.20 each way. The return trip is a little easier. Outside the pub, turn right and the bus stop is 20 seconds away on the same side of the road as the pub. Take any bus from there to the bus station & get your coach.

Coach

National Express coaches now uses the new Riverlights bus station so proceed as for local buses above. The local buses to the meet go from the same building. The member 'derbybest' is offering to meet people off the coach which may be useful to you if you've never been to Derby before. If you would like to take him up on his offer or you need more information then please send him a PM and he will get back to you.

Car

There is no parking at the pub itself however there are several short- and long-stay car parks within a mile of it - SatNav users are advised to use the postcode DE1 2SN. If you're staying overnight then your hotel or B&B might have parking.

What's Included

Buffet lunch, shared access to a set of multiplayer simulations (which ones yet to be announced), tutorials on how to play SimSig.

Where To Stay

The Aston Court Hotel is a couple of doors away from both the railway station and the venue. However, it is currently closed and under new management (Legacy Hotels used to own it but no longer do). It is due to re-open in late August so its suitability will be reviewed after that time. Your choice of accommodation is up to you; the Aston Court is mentioned as it has previously served us adequately and is in a good location.

The Events page has a sign-up sheet for those interested in a possible group rate. Please enter your requirements if you are interested. This is only for gathering interest at this stage and does not commit you to anything. If sufficient numbers are interested then I will get quotes from hotels and B&Bs in the immediate area of the venue to see whether a group rate is possible and, if so, whether it is any cheaper than any other deals you might get on your own.

The European Inn is also very close to the pub and the railway station, on the same road. At the time of writing they have double and twin rooms available for £40 per room per night advance purchase, or £45 standard rate. An "Italian style continental" Breakfast is extra at £7.50 per person per day. Free WiFi and parking on-site.

Payment

The fee is mostly to cover the cost of the buffet. This time we are introducing a pre-pay system which will encourage people to turn up if they say they will, with a discount given for doing so. For the London 2010 meet, approximately 15% of those who signed-up did not actually turn up and that affects the costs for everybody else - it also risks SimSig having to pay for any non-attendance. Most places require the numbers of people a week in advance so they can order enough food for the buffet.

Please visit the Shop to make a payment - the direct link for this item is here but why not make a donation to some simulations at the same time?

Please use PayPal only; other payment methods incur additional fees to me.

Buffet

Usually served about 1pm. A range of meat, poultry, vegetarian, hot, cold, simple, and spicy food has been provided in the past. Please specify on the event sign-up form if you have any special dietary requirements.

Friday night (before the event) - an informal gathering at a pub yet to be confirmed.

Saturday night (after the event) - a sit-down meal at a restaurant yet to be confirmed. As we need to book the venue so we have a large enough table reserved, please use the Events page to sign up!
