A number of yards require you to phone ahead to advise of a train’s approach. There is no rule or time limit on how early you make the call but if you do not then you will incur a penalty in most cases.

A train destined for here must be advised to the shunter there, to ascertain whether (s)he can accept it; if necessary the train should be recessed at Elford GL on held at Burton upon Trent.
