Simulation Features

Level Crossings

There are multiple level crossings in the simulation and from time to time, people may require to use them. When they do, they call the signaller and request permission to cross. They will call again once they are safely over. It is the signaller’s responsibility to check it’s clear and give permission, or advise them to wait. A penalty is given if trains pass over a crossing where permission has been given but they have not called to tell you the crossing is clear again. To protect the crossing, ensure you replace its protecting signals to danger, and possibly also use a reminder device to prevent you clearing them.

The sim also contains a number of CCTV crossings. The crossings at Fish Dock Road, Pasture Street, Garden Street, Wellowgate, Friargate, Littlefield, Western Entrance (Immingham), Beckingham and Haxey are all CCTV crossing in reality. The remainder are actually crossings controlled by a crossing box with manually operated gates. These crossings have been converted to CCTV's as would likely be the case if the area were to become IECC controlled and these crossings will be affected by the auto-lower sim option. The only crossing that has not had this treatment is Barrow Road on the Barton-on-Humber branch as and it remains a managed crossing and requires no interaction from the signaller once the route has been set over it. This should be done as soon as possible for trains heading towards ulceby otherwise the crossing may not lower at all which is a current issue on the game.

Keadby Canal Bridge

Within this sim it acts as a level crossing and will open based on the frequency of the crossing calls. In reality, the bridge is controlled by a crossing box and works virtually autonomously. However, in the sim the crossing box will call to warn you it is about to open. Once the procedure begins, slots will be withdrawn, catch points normalized and finally the bridge then opens. The bridge remains open for several minutes before closing again and the catch points are reversed. The crossing box then calls saying the bridge is closed and the slots back are going to be given back. Once this is accepted, the slots are given and the procedure is complete.

This sequence is animated in the simulation (but is not shown on the real panel of course).

See this link for photos and further details of the bridge.

Features Not Implemented

For various reasons, several features of the area remain unimplemented. These are as follows.

Single Line staff on Roxby branch

Single Line staff on Grimsby Light Railway

Level Crossings at Simon Storage, New Barnetby and Mineral Quay.

Ambulance level crossing is simulated as a UWC crossing only though in reality there is more interaction than that.

Platform Lockout on P1 & 2 at Cleethorpes.

Louth branch in 1980 mode.

There are no TSRs currently implemented
