The simulation in the main represents the post-electrification layout between 1990 and 2006. The control area covers the northern end of the East Coast Main Line, and the route north to Aberdeen as far as Ladybank. You also control three lines to Glasgow- the E&G via Polmont, the line via Shotts and the line to Carstairs, which is also used by West Coast traffic to Edinburgh. Traffic is a mix of local and inter-city passenger, as well as freight traffic. A key feature is coal traffic to Longannet, which runs round at Townhill.

Edinburgh is a Payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Shop .
