Introduction

Manchester South controls the line between Crewe and Stockport. The simulation also includes Macclesfield box, which is a lever-frame box controlling the Macclesfield station area. Working south from Stockport, traffic splits almost immediately at Cheadle Hulme: around half continues on the Crew line, with the rest taking to route via Macclesfield to Stoke-on-Trent. Two other branches are included: the little-used freight only branch which runs north from Sandbach to meet the mid-Cheshire line, and the busier line diverging at Wilmslow, which runs directly to Manchester, bypassing the Stockport area, and also provides a southern access to Manchester Airport.

Traffic is predominantly passenger, with a range of inter-city services working among local commuter traffic; some local trains terminate at various locations in the simulation. Freight traffic is also represented, primarily container traffic to and from Trafford Park.

Manchester South is a payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
