North Kent

Southern Region

Introduction

As its name suggests, the North Kent simulation covers the lines leaving London on the southern bank of the Thames and into Kent. The three separate branches split apart in the London Bridge simulation, before running roughly parallel through the suburbs to re-combine at Dartford and Hither Green. As you’d expect, the area is dominated by passenger traffic, with a busy metro service on all three routes, in addition to faster longer-distance traffic. The area also includes the connection to HS1 at Ebbsfleet, which sees a regular ‘Javelin’ service from St Pancras International to destinations in Kent.

The area plays host to a modest amount of freight traffic, primarily aggregates to Grain and engineer’s workings to Hoo. The carriage sidings at Hither Green also sees large numbers of movements at the start and end of the day, with detailed slotting arrangements for movements to, from and within the yard. ARS is provided as an aid to solo players, and two eras are simulated capturing changes at Gravesend and the removal of Strood from North Kent’s control area.

North Kent is a payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
