Introduction

Continuing west from Cardiff, the Port Talbot simulation covers around 45 miles of the South Wales main line from Pontyclun to Llanelli, including Swansea and the large steelworks at Margam. The area features a wide range of traffic; the eastern end is at the edge of the Cardiff suburban network, while the line beyond Llanelli is largely rural. Long-distance express services to London and the north mix with local and regional stopping services, along with a significant amount of freight traffic serving Margam and other locations in the Swansea area. The simulation also includes Tondu and Neath & Brecon signalboxes, the former controlling the single line to Maesteg and the latter controlling two freight branches.

Port Talbot is a hybrid box. 'A' panel was replaced with a modern VDU system in 2007, while 'B' and 'C' panels are the original 1960s BR (Western) panels. Tondu and Neath & Brecon boxes are mechanical boxes, with token working on two of the single lines to Tondu. The key features of all panel/box types are simulated here, along with the complex ground frames supervised by Port Talbot.

Port Talbot is a payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
