Stockport

London Midland Region

Introduction

The Stockport simulation places you in control of the busy southern approaches to Manchester. The main line from the south is joined by the route from Hazel Grove (carrying traffic from Sheffield and the Peak District) and the Mid-Cheshire line. North of the station, the primarily freight-only line to Guide Bride and the east of Manchester diverges; this branch carries all freight traffic away from the centre of Manchester. For various reasons, modernisation of signalling in the area has been slow, and although all signals are colour-light, they are controlled by five traditional lever-frame boxes, with Absolute Block working between them.

Despite controlling only two miles of track on the main line, the simulation is extremely busy: a mix of inter-city, regional express and local stopping services must be slotted through the various junctions. Freight traffic must also be accommodated- most of which crosses all four tracks. The simulation is ideal for a moderately experienced single player, and is also excellent for a Multiplayer session where the Absolute Block feature comes into its own.

Stockport is a payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
