CSR

Cab Secure Radio is a technology that allows the signaller and driver of a train to talk together, ensuring that each knows who they are talking to. Train Descriptions are correlated by the system with the stock code of the train calling (stock code being the locomotive, EMU , or DMU unique number). If the correlation fails then the signaller is shown the stock code of the train which the driver can confirm.

CSR coverage is usually limited to areas of driver-only operation trains. It is supposed to be continuous but there are known black spots where transmission and reception are poor or non-existant.
