An abbreviation of eNtrance-eXit, this type of panel has push/pull buttons for routesetting. A button can act as both an exit and an entrance. Setting a route involves pressing the entrance button followed by the exit button. Pulling the entrance button will put the signal back to its most restrictive aspect but the route itself will not release until the approach locking timer has run, or no trains are approaching. Some panels are approach locked regardless of whether a train is approaching.
