Updating simulations, and the Loader itself, can be done by clicking the 'Check for Updates' button on the Loader.
The Updater will automatically install any SimSig simulation that you don't already have, along with any updates to simulations and the supplied timetables.
Also Updated are any SimSig System files (SimSigLoader.exe, SimSigRefresher.exe, etc.)
The updater will list all of the simulation packages that have been updated. Once complete, click 'Close', and you will be returned to the Loader home screen.
From time to time, a file is no longer required. Any such obsolete files will be listed at the end of the update process; click 'Delete obsolete files' to remove these. The Loader will only attempt delete SimSig-supplied files.
If you update a simulation, SimSig will attempt to (and often can) load any games saved on an older version of the simulation, however there is no guarantee that saves will be compatible.
Users of V4.6.8 or earlier of the Loader will need to manually download and install the latest version of SimSig System Files in order for updates to install correctly. This problem was fixed in subsequent versions, you may be invited to "Run as Administrator": just click yes to progress.
Also check to see whether the relevant manual , maps and signal diagrams have been updated, although as this is all voluntary effort, it may take a little longer for all such documentation to be brought up to date.
