New system files 21/07/2011 at 22:01 #18130

New System Files are now available for download. This can be installed on top of the existing system files. This change simply updates the font but is required for all simulations released from today. Existing simulations will continue to work regardless.

Geoff i agree with Quizman,
Those people who don't fully look through the new posts on the forum might miss this. Would definately be usefully to get the message across to others.

Ive just downloaded these files and now all my sims didnt run. All I got was a blank screen with a few arrows and 1's here and there. Im running in Win 7. Hope others dont get this problem. Ive just done a reboot of windows and that may have solved the problem.

I have downloaded the latest system files and installed it. Now none of my sims will work. I just get a blank display with a few arrows and 1's. I have uninstalled them and re-installed the last set of system files. The sims now work again. I am using Vista basic 32bit

Seems that some Windows 7 users may need to restart their computer after installing these new system files for simulations to work. I'm thinking may be an operating system issue, but purely a guess really.

You are meant to restart the computer before using something that has been installed.....

Fair enough it usually works without but i dont think this is unreasonable or a problem. Not working after restart is a little worse

Bah, the only thing I ever restart for is Drivers. Don't see the need for anything else.

Ok Just like Prince Charles some of us get a little flustered when our computer does a hairy after an install. We are allowed to have our wobbly.

hmmm, my laptop has refused to download the new system files, as it "is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer"

I've added some words to the download to the effect that a re-boot maybe required.
Made this a sticky.

I'm also running VIsta32 (latest SP and everything else) and unlike Quizman, no restart required. King's Cross worked perfectly first time

And also referencing to his quote, where are those sims...

Hi GeoffM/Clive,
I assume that this scenario is built into the system files.
Why should light locomotives standing at a cleared signal but not in a platform show in F2 "waiting for right away at...."? It seems to cause a lot of delays. Does it happen on the real world?

The system files contain only the fonts and the Delphi runtime libraries required to run any Delphi program. They don't contain any SimSig logic, hence why it's been a few years since they were previously released.
