Hi all! I’m very pleased to announce my new timetable for the Swindon / Didcot area. It is a realistic timetable for a Monday in February 2021 and includes the WTT, STP and some last-minute extras. With 564 trains, you can be assured things get busy during the day. When everything is running smoothly, ARS will take care of almost everything. Add some disturbances, and you’ll be up for some interesting work. :) The new timetable can be downloaded here. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions to make the timetable even better, I’d be happy to hear from you. Enjoy! Log in to reply |

3P92 has a stop at Wantage Road, should be passing time instead?

In the LTP it’s shown 0533 PASS, although I don’t know specifically which TT this is based upon.

Thanks. It has a 05:31 stop (without arrival time) in this TT, so that should probably be pass as it isn't being overtaken. 6A25 needs passing time ticked at Steventon. EDIT: 6M50 at Melksham also has an unexpected stop. AJP in games Last edited: 27/02/2021 at 17:39 by Albert Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Have the platforms been lengthened at Swindon? 1L64's tail blocks the way for 2G81.

6M50 has more unexpected stops in its TT, it is also scheduled to call at Steventon, Milton Jn and Foxhall Jn.

Thanks for your replies! Albert in post 137490 said: Thanks. If I set it to ‘pass’ in the sim, ARS doesn’t function the way it should though. ARS will set a path to Didcot platform 4 right away, while 3P92 should wait for 2J05 to arrive and depart... If there’s any way to fix this other than have 3P92 stop at Wantage Road, I’d be happy to hear about it. Albert in post 137500 said: Have the platforms been lengthened at Swindon? 1L64's tail blocks the way for 2G81.According to the latest TPR the *useful* length of P1 is 261 m - with a track section of ~320 m between switches - so that should easily accommodate 2x 5-car Class 800s. No idea why it doesn't in the sim. I'll change it to a single Class 800 in version 1.1. Albert in post 137490 said: 6A25 needs passing time ticked at Steventon. Seems something went wrong with importing the timetable of 6M50. :) albie vowles in post 137540 said: Ive made a patch for 7B12, hope it works!Haha, what you’re trying is exactly what made me put 7B12 into Cocklebury Sidings. I don’t think you can get a train running in up direction (even it’s going wrong way on the down line) into Down Goods / Swindon East Loop with ARS on. It would be great if someone found a solution to this! Log in to reply |

Note that I'm running mostly without ARS so I don't catch ARS problems. 6U41 has a 'set down' at Milton Jn before calling in the loop at Steventon. I'd expect you want to get the train clear of the fast line as soon as possible; what is this set down for? I would suggest to let either 5P50 or 4L32 use the GL instead of RL at Didcot West End / Foxhall Jn, as currently both want to use the RL at the same time.

Without set down ARS will just let 6U41 sit on the main line when it’s running early, blocking all other trains. albie vowles in post 137590 said: Sorry, heres an update to the patch! I was thinking of no stop at all at Milton Jn because it already has one at Steventon. Or can't that be done because ARS would set the route out of the loop too early? AJP in games Log in to reply |

You can't fit 260 metres of train in a track circuit that has an in-sim length of 250 metres. A far end stop of 1L64 would prevent departure of 2G81 from platform 2 and a near end stop of 1L64 would prevent departure of 1L06 from platform 3. I think shortening the train is indeed the best way to make up for the difference between sim and reality here. Alternatively you could swap platforms 1 and 3 for 1L64 and 1L06, given platform 3 is longer in-sim and 1L06 is a shorter train. EDIT: 6Q59 and 1O18 conflict on the relief line between Didcot and Reading. Given 1A24 is concurrently using the fast line I don't see an obvious solution to it. 6C49 has a planned stop on the main line at Milton Jn. To avoid blocking the main line, I would suggest either changing it to the RL or calling at Steventon instead.

I've almost reached the end of the TT and found one more problem: 2N70, 2N73, and 2N96 are entering from Reading on the fast line but calling at Pangbourne, which does not cause much trouble in the sim but wouldn't work in reality as the platforms are not there.
