We head back to the Southern Region for our latest release - North Kent. This is commuter land, handling three busy commuter lines from London (London Bridge simulation) which all converge in the Dartford area. Freight is also an important customer, serving the large Hoo Yard area and the Isle of Grain. In real life this is two workstations but with the help of ARS, one user can handle the whole area with little difficulty, yet busy enough to keep you on your toes. Enjoy this ideal simulation! As a resident of Slade Green and a regular commuter from that station - To have my home station featured in SimSig was brilliant. It reminded me of when Geoff landed London Bridge in our laps and no one really knew it was on the horizon. Same for this one, in fact I was saving up my pennies for Crewe but some of that has now gone on this (Dont worry I'll no doubt get Crewe too). Excellent work to all the team who developed this and I will crack on with learning all the shunting at Slade Green Hopefully someone will do a new pre-covid timetable with Thaneslink thrown in as it was truly a busy commuter line before timetable reductions. Is there a map of the area showing point numbers? I can't see it on the simulation outline page. Also, I don't understand how to use the slotting system for the Slade Green yard. For train 5A26 on the 2009 timetable, I have SG52 and SG53 releases granted, but it still says a slot is required and clicking the green circles doesn't do anything as far as I can tell. As for 5A26, you need to ring the Slade Green T&RSMD PIC (SG 164 Slot) to get *2 granted to signal the train in. Firstly thank you to all who developed this sim, which i am enjoying playing. I do have a query regarding sending trains into Cliffe Brett Marine. I am attaching a save from 09:06, the 2015 timetable. I have 0Y91 waiting at NK 1611 as per TT. I have opened the lever frame, released ticked Permission to enter Cliffe, set the poiints, set the FPL to normal. But I cannot set a route to CLF5. I must be doing something wrong, but cannot understand what! I have follwed the procedures in the manual. With previous trains for this siding, I have solved this by locking points and authorising the train to pass signal at danger. Help, please! Post has attachments. Log in to view them. You need to leave the ground frame locked, and signal the train as far as NK509, the train will come to a stand at the ground frame and after a timout you can release the frame and operate it to allow the train in.

If I am understanding the situation then maybe the following will help. Route the train from NK 1611 to NK 509 (treat it at this point as a train going to Grain). When the train arrives at Cliffe Ground Frame then release and set the ground frame for the train to enter the sidings. The reason you are unable to set the route from NK 1611 is that the ground frame needs to be proven normal to set the route. Although the route goes upto NK 509 signal the driver will actually stop at the ground frame. Beaten to it by Mr Latham.. Great to see this area released as it was my daily work place as a secondman/driver in BR days. Good to see the rule re freight trains being held at Strood until the signal protecting Rochester Bridge Jcn was cleared, with a heavy train this was essential as you'd struggle to get going if stopped on the Jcn signal itself although most drivers knew thhis and wouldnt leave Strood till they got a green.

I encountered a few issues on my first run through, using the 2015-2017 era & included timetable: - When reversing trains in Plumstead platform 1 to go to the CHS, ARS sets the route from NK107 to 518X (see "220226-172556 sim time 215610.ssg"). - No phone call notification (except the standard red signal call) or headcode interposed when trains enter at Northfleet Lafarge. - NK139 (Slade Green) warner route clears with TNDNCC overlap track occupied (see "220226-175642 sim time 005250.ssg"). - If the route is cancelled from NK524 (SG East Headshunt) before a train departs, slot *7 will not be re-given and I cannot see a method to request it. - No approach release timer on NK396 (Crayford Spur) when route cancelled with TNELFA/TNELFB tracks occupied. - The manual says "Dartford Up Siding 2 has been taken out of use for safety concerns and as a result is shown within the sim with general isolations on the exit arrow and shunt signal" however no isolations appear at start up & trains are timetabled to use it? Don't know if this is an issue or not; there appears to be inconsistent interlocking at Hoo Junction. The mainline trailing crossover locks the crossover to P2 Sidings normal, but it is possible to put the P2 Sidings crossover reverse and then put the mainline trailing crossover reverse. Mechanical interlocking would not permit that, but maybe the software is supposed to? Creating the fault requires putting the yard crossover reverse and locking reverse, then it is possible to throw and lock reverse the trailing crossover. When the P2 crossover is released it auto-normalises, but based on the other end of the yard I'd have expected the siding crossover reverse to forbid putting the trailing crossover reverse in the first place?

If you want both cases to happen, they have to be added independently. And sometimes they deliberately aren't; only one of the two cases is there for some reason. Log in to reply |

Evening Shwam3 I am looking through your posting from this evening. A couple of quick questions if I may 1 - Regarding the clearance of 139 with NCC track shown occupied, when I run the save file (Many thanks for having that attached) I immediately get a phone call from 5Z00 to report an adverse change of aspect. I don't suppose you can remember what actions you took whilst 5Z00 was on route from Plumstead Down Sidings to Slade Green? 2 - The date of the timetable is 2015 and Up Siding 2 at Dartford was taken out of use in 2016, this accounts for trains being booked into that siding. Having looked through the list of options in the log file (Again many thanks for attaching) it looks like the reason that the isolations haven't applied is that in the 'standard simulation' indicated by "NSC3 active at start", the siding is deemed open for traffic. This leads nicely into.... 3 - The operator at Northfleet Lafarge will only interpose when in 'easy' mode. This has raised a question to dig into the operation of Northfleet further. 4 - With regards to NK 396 this has been raised to myself on the internal issue tracker, and has now been marked as resolved for release. Cheers Paul You have to get a red before you can get any other colour Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Shwam3 |

I don't suppose you can remember what actions you took whilst 5Z00 was on route from Plumstead Down Sidings to Slade Green? The ACOA is my own doing and not related to the issue. I didn't have a save from when it occurred naturally so when recreating the issue for the save I inadvertently cancelled the signal right as it cleared. I have now noticed the manual says "Trains departing from the [Lafarge] sidings will be described by the person in charge, and will proceed onto the departure road." it makes no mention of easy mode. TIA.Umm you do have the option of a 15 minute trial to check out the simulation which is more then enough as it should be on the loader provided you are running the most recent version.
