Signal 946 Refuses to clear? 25/03/2012 at 19:10 #30910

Hi all,

Perhaps im making a newbie mistake here, but i set a clear road into southampton central, the train approaches the signal (946) And gets held at a red aspect, however the signal in front is clear, and the next two blocks are also clear? Is there anything blindingly obvious that i'm missing here?

Attached is a screenshot showing my problem, if that is any help.

many thanks

You've set the route from a subsidiary signal ( the triangular signal ). You need to set it from the main aspect signal which 1W20 is standing at.

This is because you have signalled from 946 which is a ground position signal. Return 946 to danger and then to set the route you should be routing from 760 opposite Southampton M.C.T. to either 750 (up slow) or 752 (up fast) at Millbrook, and this will get 1W20 on the move.

Hope this helps.

The train is actually sitting at Sig. 760 which is at red. Sig. 946 has actually cleared but the train cannot reach it because it is sitting the red signal preceding it.

Signal 760, like most main signals, has an overlap.

There isn't a route set from 760 to 946, since the signal stem of 760 is grey, not white. To get the train to move, cancel the route from 946 and set a route to either 750 or 752. Signal 946 is only used by trains that are shunting/entering sidings, and will automatically clear when a route is set from 946 to 750 or 752.

You set a route from 760 to the Next signle that ISNT a Shunt and the shunt signal will automatic clear. Well that how i use to do it and it worked. If you set a route from a shunt you might lose the headcode

In future if you have that problem make sure the signal post is white - that means there is a route set from it. If it is grey then there isnt.
