I have done a timetable for Liverpool Lime Street for the 18th May 2012 but I am now unsure how I get it have it checked out or tested for release on the SimSig site. Can any one help? I actually need another pair of eyes to run through the timetable and spot any errors that may come out. There are no warnings or errors showing via the normal checking tool on the timetable. Or do I just post to the site via the attachment , [ below " add file"], and wait for a moderator to check the file out first? Log in to reply |

I guess the best way would to be to upload it and then create a thread where people can post corrections. After a while, add them all into a new version and replace the original one on the website. I think that's how it's been done before, and I know I would certainly love to get my teeth into it Well done by the way

Go to the Downloads/Uploads tab in the menu on the left <-----. Click User Contributed then timetables then Lime Street. Bottom right of the screen is a planet symbol with a green up arrow with "submit" next to it, press this and follow the instructions, once done a mod will upload it for you.

I'm already liking the four way split on 5F21.

Maybe you could put 5F21 back an hour? Very long gap between services 03:43 - 05:07

and whats the problem with that? FGW bring one of their hsts out of st philips marsh ad it sits in bristol temple meads for over 3 hours before departing on it first passenger service. if the set is ready and the crew signs on at the station rather than the depot, then they want their trains at the station.

yes but you don't know what movements are happening in the depot.Iin those times as it could be a case of they needed those 4 units out of the way and that was the easist place to put them.

Agreed. However in SimSig maybe it is more appropriate to move them to 0439 rather than have the hours gap? :s i guess this is best for Woodruff to decide

As far as I can tell it is based on the actual timetable of 18.05.12 Why on earth would the author compromise the integrity of a historic timetable when there is no reason to, sim limitations or otherwise? Good grief... PS! Cracking TT by the way, thumbs up to the author! Give it a try if you haven't already. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: woodruff |

That's right, there's a big gap after that first train arrives into Lime Street. But if that is the way the TT was then so be it IMO. Just fast-forward or have a nap through the null time. I'm doing this and I think I'm up to 6.30am at present. I was doing well too (100%) until 5M06 showed itself a few minutes before the train beside the platform was due to depart. But it's all working very well so far. No failures or noticeable errors to report for the author. Nil. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: woodruff |

Take on board the comments about the gap in the timetable. The problem I had was I wanted to stick as much to the timetable I had , as possible. There are several train movements out of Lime street but I moved them to after 24:00, as per the real timetable I was working off. Otherwise I would have had to put in a lot of 5Fxx seed trains to get the stock at the platforms. As they are not in the timetable I wanted to avoid this. I think 5F21 is a bit of a round robin as it departs Lime street to Edge Hill then returns after approx 30 minutes. So I used 5F21 as my first train movement and then carried on with the rest of the timetable. I have noted a post saying the the developers were working on being able to seed trains any where on a sim , which would be of great help ! I admit that when I ran through the timetable I used the fast forward button to move time along. But also took on board that when I play a sim I like it to "feel" and look as close to the real thing as I can. But for the next one I try I will make a note of any gaps in the timtable and use "writers licence" to adjust the times to provide more movement. Whilst I am here I was going to use the Tiploc or Stannox codes but got lazy and just copied and pasted from the information I was using ! So a quick question , should it be the Stannox / Tiploc codes or the full blown information that I have put on ? Or is it just writers preference? Again any issue please flag on this topic and after a week I will go through them and adjust the timetable where nessasary. Log in to reply |

Once you've got any minor tweaks sorted, best thing is to make a (say) 0445 start TT, with 5F21 and other berthed stock entering as seed trains that are all in their correct positions by 0500. It's a quick thing to do, but get any bugs sorted first or you'all have to do any corrections twice then. Then folk can make their own choice for the small hours. I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either. Log in to reply |

Thanks for the info. I have put 5M06s entry time back by 4 minutes, on v2. I did not have any pathing info and thought that as the train was only ecs the delay it would occur would not matter. Log in to reply |

Errata 1R70 0757 Norwich to Liverpool Lime Street Operated by EM [ arrives 13:26 , forms 1L12] , has an incorrect platform. It should be platform 5 and not 6 as it conflicts with 5D39. Log in to reply |

Version 1.1 is ready to be forwarded to the download site. It corrects some of the 2Nxx trains, [ arriving too early ] and three platform issues. I will send to the moderator for upload, when I have got some more feed back from any one that has downloaded the tt and run through, as there may be problems that I have missed !

Update. I am up to 1230. Problems so far: - 1F13 arrives in the sim at 1113 and is also scheduled to arrive at Lime St at 1113. - (pedantic only, you can take it or leave it as it has no effect on game play) 1H47 description has a small 's' in front of "street" rather than capital. Also note that I have not been specifically looking at them for spelling errors. I just happened to notice it so just made a note of it. - There is a conflict beside Platform 5 at around 1225: IR66 scheduled to arrive beside P5 at 1226 while the train already beside the platform when 1R66 enters the sim is due to depart at 1227 (2H46). Is 1R66 scheduled to stop at P5 or what about P6? P6 remains empty during 1R66/1L11's stay at Lime St station. That's it for now. Do with them what you want. Nil. The following includes any errors/potential errors/unrealistic situations that I found myself in during the play of the sim from around 1230 onwards. By unrealistic, I mean that it was impossible not to lose points as you end up running late by a minute here or there (although it only happened a handful of times). The points marked with an asterix (*) are those I see as debatable. - Conflict on Platform 5 at roughly 1325. 2F91 arrives beside P5 around 5 mins before 1R70 arrives but the second half of what was 2F91 (i.e. 5D39, after detaching) is timetabled to depart before 1L12 (which is in front of 2F91 and does not depart for another 14 mins after 5D39's timetabled departure) [note that this was mentioned a few posts above in this thread by your good self]. - at roughly 1359: There is only one minute difference between 2H42 and 2N76 on the Slow Line (SL) at Edge Hill (Up direction, away from Lime St). I have noticed that 2H42 has FL listed at Lime St but SL at Edge Hill. Is 2H42 supposed to actually run through FL at Edge Hill (i.e. Lime St: FL, Edge Hill: FL) instead? On the FL, the timetabled exits at Edge Hill either side of this train are 1L12 (1356) and 1L71 (1408) so 2H42 would fit stopping at Edge Hill on the FL at 1359 comfortably (also note that 1L12 does not stop at Edge Hill). - 5F63 is a squeeze to exit on the FL (from P1) while you've got 1F54 and 2F33 running through at that time. Is 5F63 perhaps supposed to exit on the SL? * 1F23 (enter 1946) ends up arriving beside P6 late because it has to wait at Signal 5 for 1A70 (dep. P7 at 1948) to run through the FL into Edge Hill. If you run 1F23 first (into P6) rather than delaying it at Sig. 5, then 1A70 has to wait beside P7 for the line to clear and ends up departing late out of Lime St P7. A squeeze with timings here again. * This one is probably debatable but there is only a 2 minute gap between 1H45 departing P1 at 2009 and 2F35 scheduled to arrive at P1 at 2011. When I ran this, 2F35 arrived into P1 late. - At 2030, there is a conflict on P5 between 2H44 and 1R98. When 1R98 arrives, 2H44 (which arrived earlier) becomes trapped and unable to depart at 2055 as 1R98 is blocking it (1R98 is timetabled to depart at 2137). In play, I ended up running 2F07 (> 2H44) into P6 which remains empty between 2028 and 2115. * 1F57 (Down, enter FL: 2111, arr Lime St P6: 2116) arrives into Lime St late as it has to wait at Sig. 5 for 5F25 (Up, dep Lime St P7: 2113, exit FL: 2117) to clear the FL. - I had a length problem with 1L20 beside P5 at around 2135. 2H48 is at the buffer stop with 1L20 in front of it at this time. * around 2155: I had a clash between 2H46 (Up, enter FL: 2155, arr Lime St P8: 2159) and 1F73 (Down, dep Lime St P6: 2153, exit FL: 2158) on the FL track. - 5F99 and 5F21 have the same paths. A direct clash. They depart Lime St from different platforms but have the same departure time and both exit at 2449 on the SL. I think what to get from the above is to just check the trains mentioned above and see if there are any errors around those trains, and fix any of them, if you find any, but if they are exactly as the TT has been written then there's no point (IMO) of simply adding more padding to one service just for perfection with the sim. The playing of this timetable as a test has actually raised a general SimSig question: Are sims supposed to be able to be played without losing points if you play using perfect mode and actually do not cause any errors of your own fault and play exactly to the timetable? Some of the points I raised in the above post only delivered '1 min late' messages so definitely not the end of the world but if you want to be able to play without losing points, it ends up being a futile exercise. However, is this unreasonable? I ask because if this is just how the TT was written by the operator's monkeys then there really isn't any more you can do about it without affecting the TT’s integrity. I think what to get from the above is to just check the trains mentioned above and see if there are any errors around those trains, and fix any of them, if you find any, but if they are exactly as the TT has been written then there's no point (IMO) of simply adding more padding to one service just for perfection with the sim.
