what year is the layout at Diggle Junction based on?

I ask because DE25 is Colour light rather than Semaphore:

and DE16 is Semaphore rather than colour light, along with a main aspect on DE6 (photos from 2013):

That photo is pretty ancient- DE25 is now a colour light, as are all signals in the Diggle Jn area.

DE6 is a three-aspect signal with LH feathers.

An educated guess is it will have been around the time Greenfield Junction Box closed - which I think was April 1999.

My picture from 2011 shows all signals as Colour Lights except DE4.

In the above picture and the following one you can see that in real life Huddersfield has a slot on DE24.

While I can understand the logic of including Diggle Junction to provide potential chaining options in the future it does provide the (solo) operator with the option of Marsden area on Auto Working but having to re stroke Signals at Diggle Junction apart from the odd occasion when late running traffic needs to be regulated. It might have made more sense to have Diggle Junction on a future Stalybridge Simulation - just a personal observation not a criticism of the simulation.

also a tunnel alarm (not simulated or represented?) is this similar to the Severn tunnel one where if a tripwire breaks the alarm sounds?

The Tunnel Alarm is the reason for the slot on DE24 as it allows the Huddersfield Signaller to quickly stop traffic in both directions in the event of the alarm sounding.

I've tried to find out what triggers the alarm without success to date. From the way it is shown on the panel I think you might be right.
