Ground frame V79 at St. Helier 18/03/2014 at 21:03 #57332

The Victoria Central manual indicates that it is possible to do a run round at V79 the ground frame at St. Helier. Using the 1990 era I have a service from Holborn Viaduct to St. Helier. It then runs round and goes back to Wimbledon Sidings as ECS. There is no location given in the time table editor to enable a stop at the ground frame to enable the reverse from the down to the up as far as I can see. Anyone got any ideas? Or is it not possible and the ground frame cannot be used for such a movement and yes I did say Holborn Viaduct so you can tell how old the time table is.

Unless I'm looking in the wrong place it says trains can reverse here, not run-round! I didn't add it as a timetabled location as I considered it an emergency crossover rather than one for timetabled movements. However, I can add it if you wish.

Yes you are right Geoff it does say reverse. Excuse my ignorance and it is a reverse movement what is needed.
It might be good if you could add it to the editor seeing as the appropriate signals do appear once you open the ground frame but there again it might put the onus on me to finish the timetable from 1955 that I have started...sorry to be a pain Geoff

I'd be interested to see a Sunday engineering WTT for this, using the St Helier GF.

I believe sometime later this month that ground frame is being used all day on a Sunday for engineering work, I think it's what they've done before, running wrong line from West Sutton and over the crossover to right line at St Helier.

Would that be possible to timetable into the sim?

Has anyone tried using the timetable editor for the same era i.e. 1990's. Reason for asking is I have inputted several services now along the St. Helier up line through to Herne Hill and when I use the validation or analyse function it results in the timetable being reorganised completely and lots of error messages regarding times being earlier than previous stations. Glad I didn't input too many services before I asked.
I have a save before doing the validation or analyse should this be of help

It appears to be St Helier (SIH) they terminating/starting services at, as suggested by the FCC website, and this train added in the system

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/X90376/2014/03/30/advanced

There are no other times in yet for SIH on 30/03/14, so the timings are yet to be put in I guess

Geoff,

Are you using the same headcode for a complete trip around the loop? In recent timetables, every train changes headcode at either Wimbledon or Sutton to avoid confusing reporting times.

James,

It is quite common for Sutton to be blocked, and for FCC to run a service around the loop via Wimbledon terminating at West Sutton, then running wrong-direction and back across the ground frame into St. Helier. This is Single Line Working by Pilotman between St. Helier and West Sutton.

Ahh I see, I'm one of those 'track scratchers' and still need to cover that crossover, always on Sunday's when I'm working I might go for it on the 30th March though.

Last time I've known it to be used on engineering days is 2nd February, before that was 14th July 2013. I missed the long series of it's use from May-July time, maybe another St Helier crossover season this summer?

Still having the problem and I am starting a new thread seeing as it does not effect the ground frame V79.

Done (update soon).

Location sequence from Wimbledon:
St. Helier (platform code required)
St. Helier Ground Frame
St. Helier (platform code required)

Location sequence from West Sutton:
