1. Is there anyway to route a service from Brighton station Platforms so that a service can recess in the Down Sidings. I have tried routing straight onto the Goods Reception and then forward onto the Goods Neck and into the Down Sidings but get the message no route. Similar if try to route via the Engineers Siding into the Down Sidings. I have also tried going via Preston Park and reversing into the Goods Siding and get the same resultant. This is in the 2000 to 2013 era when services were recessed in the Down Sidings so a route should be available I think. Routing a service out of the Down Sidings into Brighton is possible but surely it should be available to route in both directions i.e out of and into the Down Sidings. 2. I take it that the Down Sidings is either overhead or third rail DC. Geoff Last edited: 31/03/2020 at 15:34 by northroad Reason: None given Log in to reply |

The 2000 - 2013 era was when Cross Country still ran round there. That just used the Goods Reception. Overnight stock stabled in Lovers Walk. Back then it would have been non electrified - it was electrified when it was remodelled for the Thameslink project. I've just tried routes myself from the Goods Reception into both the 'neck' and the 'engineers' sidings with no issues. Bear in mind that the "Lower Goods" and the "Down Sidings" were disused possibly before 2000 - I never saw any stock berthed in there and my railway career started in 2000. 20 years of Simsigging Log in to reply |

Thank you for the response however I have just tried seeding something at sig T436 and tried routing to the Neck and it comes up with No route. Can I ask which signals and route you used to get into the Down Sidings please Geoff Log in to reply |

Just as a thought, might be worth clarifying for the purpose of a clear understanding.... Is it the route that won't work ie clicking signal to signal or is it that a timetable can not be validated. Once again thanks for the responses. It is the timetable editor that will not validate the route. Am I missing some location point that is in the options or that as per usual me that is missing something glaringly obvious. Geoff Log in to reply |

It is already on Mantis as report number #0027231. However I do know that some of the locations were reused by Network Rail and therefore will be in the sim for when Thameslink started using that side of the line for their Brighton 'depot' which will possibly not assist with an easy fix. Northroad, Have a look at the timetable for 5T71 in the 2019 TT. Does it solve your problem? Barry, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Log in to reply |

Guys, The layout to get into what is the Down Sidings is different. Both the 2014-2017 and the 2018-2019 show the Down Sidings as being where the Neck and Engineers Sidings is shown as being in the 2000-2013 layout. This accounts for the Cross Country reversals in the later eras as pointed out above. If I open up the sim in the 2000-2013 era without any timetable being in play then you can signal a route from Brighton straight into the Goods Reception and onwards into the shunt Neck. I reiterate that I have tried to route as per 5T71 (Barry’s suggestion) but the timetable editor for this 2000-2013 will not validate the route. It would appear to be a fault of the timetable editor alone but only in this 2000-2013 era only and because of the new layout. Once again for all help on this issue. Geoff Log in to reply |
