SimSig Victoria Central Panel 2BThis panel covers the Brighton Main Line from Wandsworth Common through Balham to Streatham Hill, to Streatham North Junction, and to the fringe with Three Bridges signal box.
This panel offers a fair bit of shunting in and around the depot at Streatham Hill, as well as fast main line traffic on the Brighton lines.
Be careful with trains stopped at signal VC634. Anything longer than a loco or 2-car unit will overhang the pointwork so it may be better in some cases to hold trains at signals VC638, VC640, or VS658 as appropriate.
Any trains booked to stop at Battersea Park station *must* use the Up Brighton Slow line from Balham, as there is no platform at Battersea Park on the Up Brighton Fast.
Streatham Hill contains a number of stabling sidings for passenger trains, on both sides of the tracks.
Trains for the Down Sidings require the shunter to give permission before the route can be set. This permission is received after phoning the Shunter to request the slot.
Trains for the Up Sidings can enter without a slot.
Trains that go past VC161 should have the route from VC161 set before routes from VC157 or VC159 are set to prevent 3rd rail gapping and/or a risk of a SPAD past VC161.
Trains departing from the Up Sidings towards Balham may exit via the Washer Road directly.
This complex of tracks spreads over two levels and a wide area of land. Branches from both the Fast and Slow lines go towards Mitcham Junction and Wimbledon, and another branch goes in the other direction towards Tulse Hill. Care should therefore be taken to ensure that trains are routed correctly, especially given the large number of locations with "Streatham" in the title!
Signal VC707 has a dual control emergency replacement button, one each for panels 2B and 3. Either can operate the button to replace the signal to danger.
Streatham Common has a trailing ground frame crossover on the Slow lines. As a signaller, left-click on the F circle to release the ground frame. The ground frame operator will then open up the frame control window to:
- Release the ground frame (lever 1)
- Operate the points (lever 2)
- Give a handsignal to the driver (switches 3 or 4 as appropriate)
- Restore the points
- Restore the ground frame
The signaller can then take back the release by right clicking on the F roundel.

Panel 2B fringes with panel 2A at the north (right) end, with panel 3 at Streatham North Junction and Streatham Common Junction, and with Three Bridges at the south (left) end. The latter will chain with Croydon SimSig when that is released. None of these fringes require any special method of operation (eg: slots, requests, etc).
