Hi there, I believe that a simulation of Hull and Surrounding areas up to Bridlington and Gilberdyke is long overdue in SimSig. If necessary then I would be more then happy to learn how to use the editor and then create this area. Thanks, Lewis

Evening Lewis, do you have specific local knowledge, or any data covering the areas?

Good evening! And apologies for this coming more than four years late. I am a member of staff at Hull and know the routes very well. If you'd like, I could make some very basic diagrams in paint.net?

If you can add signalling control tables, exact track circuit lengths and locations, exact signal locations, details of signal overlaps and relevant SBSI's then a developer with time on their hands might wish to take up the project. However, without that level of information it will be impossible to produce a simulation to the standards that SimSig requires. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Last edited: 05/09/2022 at 21:47 by postal Reason: None given Log in to reply |

A few corrections, there are shunt signals for each of the sidings, and there is (was?) a headshunt opposite the entrance to Botanic Gardens. You can also get into Botanic, avoiding the wash road, there's an exit arrow to facilitate this, theatre shows S. Log in to reply |

Sacro, In 1984 When Hull Pargaon was re-signalled and the Entrance Exit Panel was installed (Not I.F.S.) as it was stated on another thread to to with Hull in the mock simulations bit of the forum. You could for a short while after the re-sginalling was completed use the By Pass Line to go towards Botanic Gardens but alterations took place in 1987/88. That saw the points into the stock siding sprung in reverse making traffic wanting to go to Botanic Gardens have no other option but to use the Washer Line. The Exit button that I think you re-fare to is the button on the panel for the "R" indicatior attached to the stop board. As HP1001 Appertains to traffic coming out of both the Stock Siding and the By Line. A Stop Board was erected with an "R" Indicator attached on the by pass line to tell the driver coming out of Botanic Gardens to stop at this board if the "R" is not illuminated if the "R" is illuminated them the driver can carry and proceed as normal towards HP1001 as no conflicting moves out of the stock siding is being made. Why they never installed a GPL is beyond me! A lot of old hand people in the Ops Department and S&T Side reckon that a mistake was made during the scoping for the project and the additional GPL and associated interlocking would have pushed the project over budget and Hull Paragon was only going to be temporary before it was going to go into Hessle Road and they would add it to the interlocking then. The Button on the panel for the "R" Indicator is not interlocked with anything. The SBSI's do state that the signalman is to clear HP1001 1st then clear the "R" indicator after HP 1001 has cleared but there is nothing stopping the signalman from clearing that 1st and dropping a train down to HP1001. Afternoon, Yes HR 93 Points did exist and those points was commissioned in 1981 when West Parade Signal Box closed infact they used to be what was West Parade No45 Points and was controlled by Hessle Road till 1988 when larger part of Botanic Gardens TMD was closed and access/egress was via the Washer Road and By Pass line. The interlocking was altered that saw the points removed but it was still possible to make moves facing road towards Walton Street Level Crossing. I can confirm that has I have Hessle Road Signal Boxes panel fascias in my garage and turning it over you can see clearly where the S&T have filled and painted out the connections for Botanic Gardens TMD. Thank You very much, Would love to see a Hull area sim produced as it is my home city a lot of changes took place over the decades from 1964 there was significant changes being made and infrastructure being stripped out. This carried on till 1984 When the last mechanical box in the city was closed and abolished. Also the Mainline towards to Gilberdyke as you are probably aware saw significant changes in 1988 when the last bit of quadruple track was reduced to 2 track formation. Be really nice to know how far away and what era's the sim is. 0D07 Last edited: 16/09/2022 at 13:21 by 0D07 Reason: None given Log in to reply The following user said thank you: tjtbcork |

Likelihood is it would be modern set up - SimSig no longer likes doing multi era sims sadly. A shame, post 84 you'd have had 31s on the Transpennines (and the bizarre Paddington - Hull)

From this forum - was told this was one of the reasons South Humberside was nixed. Crossed wires I'm guessing

The only changes since then (off the top of my head!), are the aforementioned changes to Botanic Gardens, the doubling of Hessle Road (and Bridges Jn), removal of the banner repeater at Gilberdyke, and repeaters for G9 instead (which is now all in York ROC). Removal of the bays at Brough, some crossings around Selby changed to obstacle detection... Other than that, it's basically the same. Think the bays at Brough were removed in the late 80s/90s. They're still on the Quail maps dated 88 - in fact IIRC as a kid the one time I went to Brough station the bays were still there, though that may have just been the trackbed by that point

Afternoon, The Bay Platforms at Brough was removed in 2006. They was signed out of use circa 1999 from about 1994 onwards they had been used for stabling tampers and ballast regulators and other on track plant. The removal of the Banner at Gilberdyke did not take place till 2001/2 the outer distants was installed for Oxmardyke worked for a while with the Distant Banner repeater for about a year this arrangement lasted. It would be nice if an 80s era is done and also if South Humberside is ever updated that the pre Sheffield Roc layout and signalling could be kept for those that write and produce the 1970 through the mid 00's Timetables as it will allow for these to be as authentic as they possibly can be. I don't have the information such as control tables etc, etc only the dates of when things was altered and taken out and brought into use (Not that happened often) If you look on the Hull and District Railways Facebook Group a few members on there could have the information that you require as a few on that group worked on the S&T and such. 0D07 Log in to reply |

If anyone is updating South Humberside please make sure that all the entry and exit points are labelled carefully ! The old sim was like take pot luck to find these positions.

Ray in post 148105 said:If anyone is updating South Humberside please make sure that all the entry and exit points are labelled carefully ! The old sim was like take pot luck to find these positions. The forthcoming Doncaster Station had masses of TIPLOCs in real life, often multiple for the same single siding. We chose to consolidate all these variations into (broadly) one TIPLOC per siding, and one entry point per siding where applicable. Finally, we've tried to name those locations to match the labels on the screen. Even then, the sim will take some getting used to! I'm not sure that South Humberside would get re-released, but if we did then we do have the notion that the locations should be consolidated in the same way.
