Train goes into the siding to the right of signal 408: route is from 217 to the grey triangle to the right of the end of the track. If you can't see the triangle, click on where you think it should be and the route will set. Nick Log in to reply |

There was an error in the timetable for 5E06 when the original scrolly version of Exeter was released which I corrected in my Summer 2006 Updated timetable and it looks like it is the same in the refreshed version too. 5E06 is timetabled to reverse at Exmouth Junction which is actually impossible (it'll just sit there forever until you abandon the timetable and manually reverse.) It actually has to reverse at Rev Exmouth Jn East, either on the main line to Honiton at Sig EJ5 or on the Exmouth branch at Sig EJ20. Edited to add... Doing a manual reverse at Exmouth Junction as per original TT is pointless anyway as there are departures on both lines (Incline and RVL) out of St Davids before 5E06 returns to Exeter Central so it has to be moved out of the way to allow them both to pass. Unless I'm going mad - always a possibility! - I'm sure on the old paged version of Exeter there was a dummy at Exmouth Junction on the Up Waterloo between the junction and EJ4 that was used to reverse trains such as 5E06. I've marked with the white arrow where I believe it was. Certainly reversing at Exmouth Junction did not pose the problem it now does. Signalman Exeter West & Llangollen Log in to reply |

Don't panic, you're not going mad.... Ver 2.123 from July 2008 - original scrolly issue I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either. Log in to reply |

That signal does not appear to be there in reality, hence the vanishing act. However, if there is something wrong with the Sim as it is let me know NOW!!! and I'll see if I can sneak a fix in. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Andy, thank you for confirming I am not going mad! At least not yet. So as Peter says, the signal is not really there, so quite right for it to be removed. The tweak needed then is surely to the location the train goes to reverse either into the siding behind EJ7 or towards Polsloe Bridge behind EJ20. Signalman Exeter West & Llangollen Log in to reply |

Would be ideal if the train could reverse at EJ7 without exiting the sim (or is it like that anyway).

I agree. Peter's reality link is very illuminating. The track behind EJ7 looks very grassy!

It is grassy and getting grassier! But it is still used for trains to reverse into, and they are then held and return to Exeter Central platform 2 and on the TT as starting at St James's Park Log in to reply |

This link http://www.ontrackplant.com/locations/exmouth-junction-otpd adds a little information including a mention of 3 trains turning round there last summer. Jrr Log in to reply |

Provided the train is less than 200m long (say 190 to allow for overrun) the default is a near-end stop for reversals so should not exit the sim behind EJ7. If that siding is a single one then the SimSig rule of thumb is not to have an exit- will need to check that- if so then an absolute length will need to be determined. Just to add,did a little test and if you amend the timetable entry to "Rev Exmouth Jn East" (not Exmouth Jn)and route to Exmouth Jn Depot(where the train will reverse behind EJ7)the train will not exit the sim.You can also go to Polsloe Bridge(where the train will reverse at EJ20).
