A couple of issues:

1) The Panel Overview page states:

Quote:
The simulation is split into four panels, South, Centre, North and Moira West.
South Panel: This Panel covers from south of Derby as far as Tamworth HL, with several branch lines:
Shouldn't this be the West panel? However, in the geographical map SimSigderbymap.exe this area is unlabelled, whereas "South" appears outside it in an area outside the scope of the sim panel. "Moira West" is for some reason geographically east of the unlabelled (south?) area. Confusing.
No not really.

Why "not really"? I looked at the map and can't understand your comment.

Also, what's "CS" mean in Etches Park CS and Staton Park CS? Thanks

CS is Carriage Sidings.

And I'm not sure what you're getting at - Derby has three main panels - north, centre and south.

The Moira West panel probably replaced Moira West signal box during a rationalisation or something (totally guessing, but it makes sense...)

I will concede that the manual refers to the "west panel signaller" taking control of Moira in a post 1990s scenario - that's probably just a typo.

EDIT: In fact it seems as if Moira West signal box is still extant (at least in 2007): http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2618275

It may just be one of those sims where an extra panel is cobbled on to add a bit of interest (and I assume to link up to other sims?)

Probably the fact that south Panel IS geographically South of Derby, or maybe South South West for the pendant

regards Moira West. at the time this Sim covers, Moira west S.B was still open along with Bardon Hill S.B. both covered on the Moira Panel. its basically a Filler panel which would chain with Leicester Sim which covers the rest of the Burton Leicester Line.

edit: there also appears to a manual Typo in the Moira West overview indicating it fringes to Sheffield P.S.B.

There appears to be some confusion as to what the panel's called: on the simulation it's West, but all the documentation refers to it as South. They are, however, talking about the same panel. Moira West is a box in its own right, and not part of Derby PSB, therefore the 'West' won't correspond to it's relation to Derby- once upon a time, there may have been a Moira East box.

2) Just starting to play the 2009 release TT, right at the start of the midnight TT (00:00:00), seeded train 1F79 at S404 is scheduled to terminate at Derby P4 (after 5M87 departs), yet I can't see any way to set a route from s404 to P4. Obviously this involves the use of a Via button too but I've tried both, unsuccessfully. Help please.
Not sure why you're trying to set a route from S404 to platform 4- you need to set a route from S404 to S406 (the signal on the other side of the level crossing) first. After that, you need to set a route from S422 to platform 4.

Quote:
(added) PS I was able to set a route for 5M87 from s444 to s417 without involving the lower Via button. Strange.
Via Buttons at Derby are only required if there is more than one possible route. There is only one option from 444 to 417.

The 'left' panel was called South in the original beta simulation that I tested, and I produced the geographical map thus at the time.
When the loader version was released, South had become West in the simulation, but the manual still refers to South.

Just needs Mr P to confirm which is the correct name (was bug boarded 27/3/15).

Thanks AndyG for confirming in post #32 that there is a discrepancy between the names "South" and "West" in the sim and its manual.

Would someone please help me with the second issue I raised in post #32:

You mean the response Steamer has given you previously, to route from 422?

why bother posting a comprehensive response if it isn't going to be read? much in the same way as why ask a question if you aren't going to check all the responses that you get?

which reminds me, I'm still awaiting your response on this thread where I have asked for some information to try and help you but recieved no relevant response:

Do you realise how much of a REMF you come across as?

Going back a few posts, I'm almost certain that the panel covering Burton etc. is indeed referred to as the west panel, not the south. The Moira 'panel' in the sim incorporates the area covered by Moira West and Mantle Lane boxes, not Bardon Hill (by far, incidentally, the busiest and most interesting nowadays!) - which is the adjacent box in that direction, not Leicester (or indeed Sheffield).

If you are using REMF as defined here it may be helpful to remember that when you point a finger at someone else, you are pointing three fingers at yourself.

Thanks Steamer and Peter Fulcher. Apologies to Steamer for overlooking your earlier reply to the second part of my post - was away from keyboard for a while. Now back and confirmed 422 to P4 is the way to go, though still seems odd to route a Class 1 (1F79) via 2 shunt signals to reach the desired platform.

Sig 422 to 454 (P4) is a main class route, the 2 'running' shunts clear automatically as part of that route. The train is being routed by main aspect to main aspect.

You shouldn't need to use the ground frame, just signal it straight into the loop.

No not really.
I worked on the back desk in Derby box many years ago and so can clear up the confusion over panel names. They are (from left to right) West, Centre and North. The Wiki entry 'South' is incorrect.

Along the Leicester Goods lines from Burton, Moira West Jn SB fringes to Derby PSB at Gresley and controls to Lounge Jn. It is not part of Derby panel in real life. Then there are also boxes still remaining at Mantle Lane (Coalville) and Bardon Hill. The only reason I can think of for this route being included on the Derby sim would be to facilitate chaining to a Leicester PSB sim should one ever be produced at some future date.

Regards,

Phil.

Having a problem with the stock 2009 timetable - all running very smoothly till 2a19 turns up. 2a19 wants to arrive at Derby platform 3B where it will join with 2a92 before leaving again to sheet metal stores.

Unfortunately, when it arrives at platform 3 (which appears to 'include' 3b) it causes the sim to generate a 'wrong platform' error. 2A92 does exactly the same, generating an inccorect platform error. Should I edit the timetable, or am I missing something about how to route trains onto platform 3 so they stop at 3B rather than 3.

what's the reversing location for DY172? Its currently impossible to run trains in/out of Wetmore to/from Wichnor. its also not possible to run some of the trains in the Stock 2009 timetable as they require a reversal at this point, which hasn't even been put in?
