Apologies if this is a stupid question but I've searched the forum and the wiki without success... Please can someone tell me the meaning of the initials "ROL" at the down end of Carlisle platforms 1 and 4, and "SR" at the junction of Carlisle down goods and down main? Thanks for all the work that went into Carlisle: it was well worth waiting for (which reminds me I was going to make a donation! I'll do it now.) Log in to reply |

ROL stands for reduced overlap, I can't remember what SR is other than Southern Region, which, I'm sure can be discounted in this instance!

In relation to points, SR='Self-Restoring' ie same as auto-normalising. Generally used at siding exits for safety reasons, to ensure the running lines are protected from runaways. I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Richard42 |
