Drat! It isn't there, but that sort-of rules out me using that location as a future 'Guess The Location'! Nice guess though.

Correct! Currently the terminus of line U2, although it wasn't when the photo was taken.

Methinks you pinched this one from Google Earth as I have found it! The location is Brundall, Norwich.

Bonus points for the signal number.

Bonus points for the station in the background.

An easy one for me as I have a few shots of that box. That photo is at Liskeard, Cornwall.

Peter,

It is! I hoped the black & white colouring would make it a bit more difficult but well done.

Thought I would try this one on you lot:

Apart from the usual "Where is this location?" question, there is a sub-question here:

This box opened in its current location in 1970.Where was it previously?

Didn't think KR Jn had any lower quadrants left anyway - just upper quadrants with finials, much to the confusion of many.

Yes, it is Bargoed. Well guessed!

The box was previously at Cymmer Afan, north of Maesteg. It was installed there sometime between 1958 & 1963 to control the layout of what had been two rival companies' stations - R&SBR and GWR - which were right next to each other. Before the installation of the box between 1958 & 1963 the stations had been under control of separate boxes. The box and the lever frame were transferred to Bargoed after the closure of Cymmer Afan: they assumed control of Bargoed wef 09-Nov-1970.

More information: British Railways Past & Present, book 37 (South Wales Part 3), Cover & pages 42 - 45.

Ge4ntlemen! Can I bring some order to this thread!

It seems all the current posts are mixed up, and there's no clear winner of each guess. Can I propose a few rules?

1) You can only post one location if you guess the previous location correctly. The first to post the correct location is the winner of that round.
2) The location must be within the UK (that's England, Scotland, Wales and NI)

Will these do?

Why? We have members from places all over the world and no doubt many from here who have traveled all over the world. I've had fun trying to figure out some of these from the clues in the pictures. This included the Berlin one which I got as far as figuring out the city but not quite the exact location.

Hi all,

Thought I would tease your brains again with this one. It is an audio poser though, not a visual one.

On Tuesday 25th October I took my lunch break next to a station which has a level crossing at one end of it. When the signalman next to the crossing initiates the sequence to close the crossing then you get this noise.....

http://www.btinternet.com/~dcharries/CIMG7326.WAV

..... instead of a warbling noise. Anyone care to have a guess where I recorded that sound clip? I will give a clue in that it is this side of the Irish Sea and not in Scotland or Wales. I look forward to seeing if anyone gets this one right.

Had no problem hearing clip - right clicked, selected Save link as..., saved it and listened in Windows Media Player with no problems what so ever.
