A timetable reproducing the Saturday service operated in the 1970s. Most routes had a 15-minute interval service both daytime and evening until service shutdown, the exception being the Inner/ Outer Circle services which did not operate outsiude morning and evening peak hours. Trains on the Kirkhill route alternated between running through to Newton and turning back at Kirkhill using a crossover there that was removed in the late-1980s. Those movements provided some extra interest for Cathcart box's operator, especially if trains were late or the points malfunctioned. Such events even made signal 25 at Kings Park useful.
