Hi all,

I'm new to the forum but not so new to SimSig (been at it a while just never really said anything on the forums). I'm a volunteer Signalman on the NYMR at Goathland SB and now Grosmont Crossing SB, with ambitions to to conquer New Bridge and/or Levisham and then joining Network Rail in the future.

Like I said I've played SimSig for a while on my own, but would like to get into MultiPlayer games but I can't find where (if anywhere) the info about them is posted on here. Appologies if I'm just a useless searcher, but any help on this would be much appreciated

Regards,
Kit

Firstly, please do allow me to be the first to welcome you to the forum.

If you have a look on the 'homepage' of the forum towards the bottom is a section called "Hosting" and inside that are subsections called "Notification of Hosting" and "Hosting Q&A". If you watch the Notification of Hosting area, when the big circle shape turns green it means that there is a new post there that you haven't read. Enter the Notification of Hosting and find that post (look for the green circle again) and enter that thread.

The first post in that thread should be what you're looking for and it'll tell you what simulation is being hosted on what date and what time the game starts. You'll also need to look out for the all important IP Address in the post and the Port number - these two bits of information are crucial to be able to join a hosted game successfully. Basically make a note of (or highlight then copy to clipboard) the IP Address and make a mental note of the port number, load up the simulation, click Network Play, enter your desired player name in the top-left text box (up to four characters only) then click on the Client button. Next you'll want to type in (or paste in from clipboard) the IP Address into that long box and then, if the port number is 50505, click the 'Primary' button or if it's 50507 click the 'Secondary' button, or if it's totally different (it may be 4321) then enter it as appropriate and click on connect.

If the host accepts your connection then you should be connected to the game so wait for the "Update from server complete" message and then wait and see what the host says, they may offer you a panel ("workstation"or they may say that the game is full at the moment and so you should be welcome to stay and wait around until a panel/workstation becomes spare. If you're given a workstation then you'll need to access the menu (MNU button on paged simulations or the main control window on Scrolly simulations), open the "Multiplayer" menu and select the appropriate workstation from the list and click the "Take control" button.

Then signal away!

Hope this helps.

Welcome, Kit. The Notification of Hosting forum is only visible once you're logged into this website - if you browse without logging in then you won't see the forum. This might explain why you haven't encountered it yet.
