I was having fun on the recently released 83/84 TT, when I noticed 6E89 from Manchester was being unusually tardy. Having dug out F2, I discover it's climbing up the hill at a painful 2mph!

Incident Report notes it as a late runner, but not as Loss of Power (though if it was performing that well throughout it's journey, I'm not surprised it's late!). Admittedly it is bad weather, but this takes it a bit far ;)

Is it normal for trains to struggle quite that much coming up from Manchester, or does the sim/TT need looking at?

Depends what the weight is and where exactly it is too. According to my gradient profile, Edale is on a downhill 1 in 100 all the way to Hope basically (from Manchester) but if its in the tunnel (out of the panel though) that could be on the uphill 1 in 150 (from Manchester)

You aren't playing it on "bad weather" are you?

There is a known bug where trains run at max 2 mph in this scenario.

As I have discovered - odd that it didn't seem to manifest itself (noticably) til 0400.

it will also affect services from Sheffield towards Earles, regardless of traction & class.

You will probably be well advised to bin the bad weather session. On the old Forum which died when Geoff moved hosts, there was discussion about this after it took me 69 1/2 hours of sim time to complete the 24-hour timetable. It could have been a lot worse; the sim is still running on the old code which limits the trains on the sim to 100 so a large proportion of the trains in the TT never entered the sim.

Aye, that was becoming an obvious issue by the time 3 2mph trains had stacked up coming from Manchester.

Ah well - I'll just have to test myself with another of the scenarios
