Is Signal CN1 at Crediton supposed to allow call on towards signal CN5?

Are you asking this because it won't allow call on towards CN5 when you know or think it should do or are you asking this because it does allow call on towards CN5 when you know or think that it shouldn't do?

I can easily see that that signal would allow call on towards CN5, and I would expect that, but I don't know of any 'local matters' saying that it should not do so.

Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for.

I'm asking as although it looks as though it should allow call on towards CN 5 it doesn't.

Interesting. A quick look at these photos of the panel suggests that there isn't a subsidiary signal on CN1, looking in particular at the switches on the panel go some way to confirming that (only one switch indicates only one route from the signal - towards the Up North Devon). Compare that with CN4 - although the subsidiary signal isn't indicated on the diagram, there is a switch for each of the three routes from the signal (main aspect to Down Okehampton, main aspect to Down North Devon and sub aspect to CN12). Presumably the calling-on route into the Up platform wasn't justified (understandably!), along with the shunt route into the Down platform (from CN1) that is available in Simsig but doesn't appear to be available in reality.

There also appears to be two routes from CN2 into the Down platform - one possibly a calling-on route that's missing in Simsig?

The public version of Exeter certainly didn't allow a call-on - the shunt aspect was for the route to the other platform with access to the siding. I don't think the platforms are permissive; I can't find my Sectional Appendix for that area right now, though the signalling could have pre-dated the SA.
