For reasons best glossed over, I've ended up with an AC loco at the east end of Waverley that I need to be attaching to the west end of a train on P1.

I've routed it:
EW
Abbeyhill (rev)
EW East SL/SLE/--
EW West --/11/W
Princes Street Garden DS/--/DS
Princes St Gdns (Rev) --/846/--

What's the correct routing back from here?
I would have thought E846-> E488 (UN, line Z) -> E462 (NLL) -> E444 (P1) however I can't get a route accepted in the timetable from E846 at all. My only solution at the moment is to abandon the timetable to run the train into P1 for the join, but I would love to know the right way of doing it

it's possible that within the several 100s of paths (all individually written), that there are some omissions/errors. I presume that when trying to accept the timetable there is no helpful prompt pop-up?

It is also possible to reverse at "Mound" if the routing you want to do is possible via there. The other possibility is that coming back from 846 you don't need PStGdns in the timetable at all- in fact thinking about it you probably don't as in the UP direction that location will be the TCs approaching the signals protecting the cross-overs. Note also at the East end you can, depending on exactly what routing your require, use Calton (rev) and unless you want the train to amend the default routeing across the 10/11 X-over you only need one Edinburgh location in the timetable.

I get "none found" for 846 to Princess Street Gardens and for 846 direct to EW West

Not with an AC loco, unfortunately.

Thanks - I might try that on my next run through.

Right- it's [PSG reversing point] > [Mound] > [EDB]

As part of resolving the same issue, I'm now struggling to find any route westbound out of platform 119. The pop up validation list is too long to show all available routes, and Plat 119 doesn't appear in the visible portion of the list.

The following, which looks right to me, definitely isn't accepted:

EW --/119/Z
PSG UN/---/DS
HYM DS/4/ML

(this should traverse E489 -> E499 -> E503)

I think that a better validation system is on the wish list.

First question are you hard-coding the lines and paths? It's aways advisable to first see what auto-inserts will produce as it may actually resolve.

The EDB line --/119/Z must be correct and if it's listing EDB/PSG validation it must be the PSG element that's wrong so take it out and see what auto insert adds then gradually build it up element by element and at some point the auto insert will take over.

Looks like the expected Path code should be US at PSG (which is wrong) so may not work...... Sorry will fix to UN.
