Hello!

I can't work out how to set the route from signal 241 (Riverside Yard) to CN2 (on the way to Crediton). Am I using the wrong signals? I can't see any other threads about it on here but I can't imagine no-one has noticed so I assume it's that I'm doing something wrong rather than something's broken! In the meantime I'm keying the points and telling the trains to pass 241 at danger, which is hassle and slow.

(And we'll not talk of the mess I've just got myself into by sending a train onto the single line at Newton St Cyres while there's something already fouling the level crossing AND the points at Crediton. Sigh.)

For reasons best known to someone else a little more knowledgeable than myself you can't set a route from Signal 241 -> Signal CN2. The only work around is to have trains enter on the other line so that Signal 141 could be used to set the route to Signal CN2. There could be an incorrect or missing route code, a bug with the simulation or it is just not a valid route in real life. This has got me wondering so I am heading to Google Maps to find out - will update in a few minutes with my findings.

I'm stumped. Cannot see any reason why it shouldn't work.

If you want to keep moves signalled then straight ahead over Cowley Bridge Junction (upto Signal 43), reverse there to use Shunt Signal 660 to traverse the trailing points at said junction and stop at Signal DM193 / 56 then Shunt Signal 661 to CN2.

How do you get trains to come in on the other line though? BLOK doesn't work and there's no separate entry point - everything so far has been set to enter at Riverside Yd North and it comes out at 241.

I had considered shunting around Cowley Bridge Junction like you say, but to be honest I'm already frustrated enough with these trains that I just want to get rid of them...!

A previous thread on this forum regarding this would suggest this was a bug which the developers were aware of and have fixed and will presumably be seen by us in the next release of the Exeter sim.

Josie, it appears that trains to Crediton have to leave via the Down line entrance to the yard at signal 141.

Yes, I realise that's a possible route - and the link above suggests it's a bug which is fixed in the next release - but in the meantime, how can I get trains to enter at 141? I don't think it's possible - there's no separate location for that line, it's just 'Riverside Yd North' and everything comes out at 241. I don't think there's a way to force them onto the other line.

Josie, there is, but you need to change the timetable or abandon the timetable and shunt the train. Are you capable of doing this? If not, I suggest you run the previous version of Exeter.

1. There is no way to force a train to enter from the yard at sig 141 even by editing the timetable.
2. Protecting the line and talking a train past 241 onto the branch will delay a train for what, 2 minutes? Faffing about with editing timetables and shunting the train about is unlikely to be any quicker or easier. And how many trains are we talking about? Not many.
3. I don't think anything other the version 2.201 is available publicly.

At the moment I'm just keying the points and telling trains at 241 to PSAD to send them towards Crediton. What would you edit the timetable to, to make them come in at 141 instead of 241? That's what I meant by 'other line'.

Depends on the timetable! 1985 has a few. I was just wondering (out loud, possibly even rhetorically!) whether there was a way of blocking one line and treating it almost like a failure, so as to keep everything running smoothly under signalled moves. As you say (1.), there isn't.

It does appear that there is no Sim entry at 141- which begs the question should there be? Given there is a signal I'd guess there should so I'll add it if I remember.

Peter, . You could solve the current problem by shunting from the yard to S660 then to S661 then to the branch. The problem is Timetable validation will not accept a shunt from S241 to S660 (Crawley Bridge Nth Reverse). Could you add this please?

Have added 141 as an entry point and made both entry points subject to the "BLOK" function.
The route via 660/661 is already possible, did you omit Cowely Br Jn from your timetable?

Noticed that 141-CN2 is available in the published version, but not 241-CN2.
I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Until the updated version is released, there is no way to enter trains on the arrival line (@ sig 141), nor is there a valid route Riverside Yd towards Crediton. Interim workaround is to manually set the points, and then instruct driver to pass the red signal 241.

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.
