Now I've got the numbers for Saturday, it would appear that not many people are volunteering their laptops. This leaves us significantly short of positions for the multiplayer games which will be a real shame unless more people volunteer. There will also be no space for personal use of laptops - this includes developers. You might be able to find a space elsewhere in the pub though. For those that do bring a laptop and are happy to offer it for gameplay use, you will get priority on joining sessions. I will also give you back £1 of your entry fee for offering your laptop - it's not much but a small way of saying thank you on behalf of those who play but do not bring laptops. On a side note, please ensure laptops are secured, for example with a separate user account for the day. Users can help by keeping all food and drink away from the laptops to prevent accidents. Hopefully enough people will share their laptops to make this an enjoyable day for everybody!

I'm bringing 2 laptops, so could make another one for public use if (desperately) needed.

I can bring three laptops then, two of which can be shared the other is my work laptop and I can use it myself. No touch screens this time though ! ive volunteer mine then geoff - can u PM me details of what i need as i can also provide a mouse, mousemat, extension cable etc (didnt have all the stuff when i booked)

I was going to bring mine but I put no laptop basically because I have no A/C power plug for it and the batteries are dead flat so can't run off of that. If anyone had a power plug that fits an Acer then I can bring my laptop and a mouse too, don't have any other cables for it though, just a BT Wi-Fi card...oh and the 1 key is dodgy so interposing express trains might be an issue

Thanks for the offers - if it's in working order and is bigger than a typical netbook then it will be appreciated. Note my earlier comment: please do not bring your own laptops to the meet if you aren't going to share them. There are only four mains sockets in the room and they will be dedicated to the shared laptops - the priority of the meet. There are a limited number of tables and most of these will be used for the shared laptops and for the buffet. So for everybody's sake, please don't try to set up your own laptop as it will take up room and/or become a potential trip hazard. If I see any out which are causing a hindrance, blockage, or risk disrupting anything going on then I will have to ask you to put it away. I make no apologies for this stance: priority is to the majority playing together, not to the individual on his/her own private laptop. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

Geoff not news you want to hear, I am unable to attend and was listed as bringing a laptop. As advised I'll bring two laptops which can be shared, I'll have a third anyway which could be shared if required. Power strips will bring two or three six way belkin strips. Is this all needed or do you now already have enough I don't want to drag all this around if i find out it was a massive waste of time. Im leaving home tomorrow 1500 to go to the meet so I'll leave with it all and would appreciate to be told don't bring it before I leave. I also believe that anorthall who was coming with a laptop said he was not going to make it.

I think there will now be enough. When I made this request, only 11 people had offered laptops. Now the number is around 20.

Having spoken to a couple of Skype contacts previously - here is my position. The only laptop I have is from work, which, I probably could easily borrow. It is 7 years old, but has never been on the internet (I believe I could in theory do Wi-Fi, but I never have done so). Is it worth me bringing this - I would need help in setting the Wi-Fi up! Could someone comment as appropriate please - I'd need to know by 1700 GMT. I do have already 2 single plug extension leads, and will hunt around work and see if there are any more I can easily borrow without disabling things. Edit - found one 4 way adaptor that's not got anything plugged in! I will also bring a spare mouse and mouse mat in case of any on the day failures. Those of you that brought laptops that were used for multiplayers, thank you, and please email me your PayPal order number so I can refund the £1 offered. Thanks to those who have already kindly said to keep it.
