When were these Xovers installed? 04/12/2011 at 11:28 #24418

I notice on the Saltley sim that the crossovers allowing movements from up/down slow to up/down fast in a southerly direction which in real life are just north of Tyseley (near the Carriage Sidings/washer) aren't on the sim. Nor are what ISTR are Xovers allowing north/southbound movements from/to the North Warwicks line from/to the up/down fast at Tyseley South Jn. Can someone tell me when these were installed? Was it when Tyseley South junction was remodelled/upgraded a few years back?

It's just that I travel this line regularly and can't find the Xovers on the sim!

Thanks a lot!

The crossovers you refer to north of Tyseley were installed when the signalling was transferred out of Saltley and into the West Mids Signalling Centre (across the road from Saltley). The junction south of Tyseley was remodelled as well, but not as you say - the access to the North Warwicks is still only from the slow lines; the link between the Dorridge lines and the slow lines south of the station is a single lead junction instead of the double junction there previously (and most weaves across now occur at the north junction instead).

I think this is the junction I remember when travelling from Snow Hill when I lived at Solihull.

Apologies for going off-topic in this post but...

They're opposite each other? Do they both put up fancy Xmas trees outside and decorate them as a bit of friendly competition to see which people think is best, with the winner perhaps receiving some financial reward towards their signallers' Xmas meal outing?! :cheer:

Thanks all! I hadn't noticed that the North Warwicks crossover to the Dorridge lines is a single lead junction.

But ISTR from my mis-spent 1960s childhood when I used to spend hous at Tyseley (as I knew the stationmaster at Tyseley - John Millington ISTR) that at one time there was a double lead junction from the N.W. to the up/down fast (i.e. platforms 1 & 2 @ Tyseley) near the old South Box.
