This maybe something which has already been requested or discussed in the path, so correct me if I am babbling on again.

Would it be feasible for the TT editor to have an option which when selected will only display a list of locations based in the previous or entry point location. For example if you enter Polmont Jn (Edinburgh Sim) then you would have Polmont or Linlithgow only show as they are the two possible paths.

It would save a tremendous time for those creating timetables using it, especially handy when starting out on your first TT experience or you dont know the area that well.

Hopefully this makes some sense.

Thanks
Alan

Interesting idea- would also need to cope with non-key locations; have added to "wish list".

I know that there is a recent Core Code change to the way the line and path codes are displayed when the thing fails to validate these in ARS Sims.

This has been logged as a feature request.

As Peter says, it's not trivial, partly because of non-key locations. To explain in more detail, the "permitted routes" logic works in terms of key locations which are, roughly, places that trains do something interesting (other than just pass or stop). Other places (stations with no facilities for joining or reversing) are "non-key locations" and are treated differently; in particular, they are ignored by the code that checks whether you've written a possible timetable. I'm not quite sure how this could be handled.

Thanks for adding it to the wish list. I understand the non-key locations issue, in that case perhaps listing the key locations first in different colour would also be good if its at all possible. Only thoughts to make it easier, and if I am honest the path file from Peter has been an immense help understanding some of the odd locations within Edinburgh and how they work.

Thanks.

I also hope that the Liverpool Street timetable bug will ever be fixed: I cannot save a timetable in Linux, need Convdata or Windows.

I can't tell you why the whole sim works in Wine, except saving timetables to WTT files. There is no error, just nothing happens.

Well I suppose that Wine is not an emulator. That might have something to do with it.

Saving games does not have any problem. Saving timetables works also, except in Liverpool Street. I even don't have the ability to type a filename in that sim. Note that it works without any problem on other sims.

Is it 64bit Linux and what flavor of Linux is it? (Ubuntu, Debian, Mandrake?)

The save dialog does not appear when saving a TT in Liv St. The same dialog works fine when saving a game.

I have installed again Liverpool st on my linux pc and I do not have the problem Albert is experiencing

I have a problem with windows disappearing under the main window however. As the simulation is full screen, if I am editing a timetable and I switch to the main screen, sometime I can not turn back to the timetable editing windows, as I have no way to click on it

Albert, are you sure that the saving dialog windows is not hidden somewhere?

No, it is not.
This happens when I create a new timetable, and then exit SimSig. Simsig asks me to save the timetable, but regardless of what I click, it just exits just like I've clicked No. There are no windows hiding: when it exits, all windows disappear and I get back to my desktop. Normally, it should display the save dialog BEFORE exiting, not after.

Note that I use Linux Mint 10 KDE and Wine 1.2.2.

Actually I have not tried in the way you have described.
I have explicitly saved the timetable from the menu before exiting.

I have tried just now, and if I edit the timetable (in the F4 menu) and then select file -> exit, the program exit immidiately without even asking me if I want to save the timetable or the game.

I have found out that it asks only for saving when you have started a new timetable instead of editing an existing one.

So basically all you need to do is the save the game via the menu before you exit?

If what you want is to save the timetable (so that a WTT is saved, and you can start a new game) you have to save the timetable from the timetable menu. If instead you select save from the main menu what is saved is the current simulation status (which include also the timetable, but it will not allow you to start a new game).
